"Kpop is boring"

I've seen this comment so many times in the past few years. The reason they thought so was obvious each time: they spend too much God damn time listening to Kpop, reading articles about Kpop, discussing Kpop, etc.

  1. Kpop is the only genre that have 'artists' comeback 2/3 times a year.
And I've always found that stupid. If usually people need like 1/2 years there's a reason to that.
So even if I have to wait because nothing is interesting (for me) right now, I don't have the right to complain. Having to wait a few months a much less than most of others groups/singers I used to stan before kpop.

  2. Sistar's new song is awesome. Brave Girls have been awesome, too. Maybe Brave Brothers is getting his mojo back.

  3. In my case, I don't think it's even about it being marginally boring, more like predictable. Mainstream Kpop needs more producers tbh, the ratio of idol groups to producers is pretty fucking low. There's what, Yoo Young Jin, G-druggin, Teddy, JYP, Shinsadong Tiger, Bravesound & Sweetune doing most of the shit. OT but lol I heard The Koxx produced some tracks for Miryo's shitty solo album.....so much for starting to like them...

    1. I think groups/companies are too afraid to try out new producers after they found one "that works." For example, T-ara had several producers work for them on their first album, but it seems like Shinsadong Tiger has produced most of their tracks since BPBP. I would also like to see more producers because it does get a bit stale listening to the same 10-15 producers all the time.

    1. T-Pop as in Taiwanese pop? if so, I threw that in there with C-pop since it's in the same language (I think.)

    3. Taiwan is mostly made up of Han Chinese, just like Mainland China, so I lump the two together when I talk about Cpop. (Yeah, I know for political purposes they're two different countries.)

    4. I think he/she meant Thai pop? (T_T Why there's not many people heard of it, we got good music too...)

    5. I kinda like Thai pop, but it's so hard to find something about this genre that I can't call myself a true listener :(

  5. Well, I do most of the things that girl does, but I don't get bored lol Everyday I find something new, so I have a great time doing it, except the tumblr part and being obsessed with my oppars, that's for people with no life.

  6. korean idol groups needs to do those multiple comebacks a year just because if they dont, they get irrelevant if they are a small group, every comeback also gives revenue. Compared to a western artist who does a comeback a year or two on avg, it makes it sounds like kpop is slaving their idols away. But as we all know kpop groups do not make a lot of their money from their music, its from their sponsors and promotions that makes them money. For western artist the bulk of their money comes from tours, whether a world tour or a local domestic tour.
Korean groups cannot do that, maybe in Asia they can, but if they want to expand they have to get more producers to make more music and LEARN SOME DAMN ENGLISH.

  11. That's the problem some "kpop" fans only care about the groups that they like. I try to be as diverse as possible and always keep up-to-date with new, old, and less well-known groups.

You can definitely tell there's some giant cliques in kpop, or their fanclubs to make a specific example. I know there are good members who don't start shit, but for some reason other fanclub members get this idea that their idols are the greatest thing to ever grace this planet >.>

What's worse is when someone criticizes... let's say Big Bang. EXAMPLE: "Big Bang sux 2day btw im VIP" LOL getting tired of people using fanclubs to defend themselves from getting flogged.

OK that was really off-topic, but yeah I find kpop is really exciting when I can always see different artists. Even then, South Korea has a great indie scene. I also agree with the music producers.. I would like to see some new blood making title tracks; I'm sure there's some undiscovered talent somewhere.
