Back in May, Ulala Session released this MV. To be honest, I never paid attention to them until I heard this song from them that was featured in Bridal Mask. I decided to check out some of their other songs, and I found Beautiful Night. Had I known Park Han Byul was in it, I would have watched it the day it came out.
What ensues after is a crazy ass MV. Ulala Session basically told SM to fuck off with their dancing in a box like a robot MVs. This is the antithesis to most of SM's MVs in the past few years. It's just a bunch of guys crashing a wedding with dancing and an addictive song.
There are some great moments in the MV. I loved the moment at 1:58 where they were dancing in front of the bride and groom. The look on the groom's face was "I'll fucking rip your balls off and shove them down your throat and I'll rip your dick off and shove it up your ass," yet he starts dancing along with them soon after. Also, Park Han Byul's bodywave at 4:42 was cute.
Ulala Session couldn't have debuted a better time. In the past three years, Kpop has become too manufactured. There have been eight million idols that have debuted in about two million groups in that time span, with so many songs that sound similar since all of the groups rely on the same seven-eight producers in Kpop. From what I know, Ulala Session composes their own music, and it shows, since their music is going against the general trend in Kpop. This song proved that a group can make a catchy song without using a hook, without using autotune, without using dubstep, and without making a complicated dance that took the idols two weeks to master while they practiced the dance for 16 hours a day.
