I hope no Korean boybands rap in Japanese

Why? One, they suck at rapping in Korean in the first place. Even though Korean and Japanese are very similar languages, Korean's rhythm fits rap much more than Japanese does. There are some great Japanese MCs out there, but it's much easier to find great Korean MCs. To fit with the language, Japanese hiphop, at least the mainstream, doesn't even sound like hiphop for the most part. I don't even know what the hell to call it, honestly.

Point is, if the Japanese themselves have trouble rapping in their own language, it's not hard to imagine how awful a Korean boyband member will sound. Yes, G Dragon and TOP rap in English for Big Bang's Korean songs, but if they rapped in Japanese, I have no doubt in my mind that their raps would sound even worse.

Besides, if I listen to any idol rapper, first thing I end up doing is comparing them to a real rapper. I'd be doing the same thing if idol rappers rapped in Japanese.

First, Verbal of m-flo circa 1999-2002. He changed Japanese rap. So raw back then. His verse is around the 2:30 mark.

Second, Kreva. This is his latest song. He's pretty dope too. I'll just subconsciously compare Korean idol rappers to these two guys (plus a lot more) and will just shake my head.

All in all, I hope the rappers take some damn singing lessons or some shit. Bad singing in Japanese is less embarrassing than bad rapping in Japanese.
