Question of the Week 56

This week's question comes from Harshmin:
What, in your opinion, are the best/cleverest and worst/stupidest fandom names and why?

Did we have this question already? I honestly cannot remember. Oh well, carry on. 
 
Personally, I absolutely love Jay Park's Jay-Walkers. I don't care what any of you say. It is clever. More clever than B2ST's Beauties, G.NA's G.NIs, Girls Day's DAI5Ys, MILK's Milky way, MyNAME's MYgirl, N-SONIC's Super Sonic, One Way's One Love, Rain's Clouds, Se7en's Lucky 7, Park Bom's BOMshells, Minzy's MINJas, and Sunggyu's Chingyus (all of which I giggle at in amusement). I pretty much adore any fandom names that are fun and are connected to the idol(s)'s name.

And I did like telling people out loud that I used to be a PlayGirl (until you changed, After School. You changed, man).

OH, and Boyfriend's is Bestfriend. Ha! You know what that means? That means you got friend-zoned by 6 guys, fangirl! Suck it!



But I hate, stupid ass fan names that make no sense. Shawols. Really? IAMs? BOICEs?
In fact, here is a list that I compiled of ones I dislike:

Hip-hop village (okay, since 1TYM is kind of a K-pop pioneer, I will go easy on this one. This was probably one of the first fanclub names ever coined. They did not know it should not be stupid)
BANA
Shapley
Hi Ade
Fan God (really. How much more explicit could you be, g.o.d fans?)
Eels (who the fudge wants to be called an eel?) 
Bummies (I stand corrected. It can get worse) 
Henecia
Jjunaway
Papitus
Say A (this is difficult enough to say for English speakers)
Love Room (if you say this outloud, it sounds like you are asking for a room at a love hotel. And fangirls, I don't think that is where you are intending to go)
Linos 
Lizzbians
H:LLЁR (what were you thinking, Sunny Hill?)
Tinkerbell (are you fudging kidding me, SUPERNOVA? Really!? You decided NOT to stay with an outer space theme?!)

    I love the ones you mentioned, but Seomate is also nice, even though I'd never be one evar.

    I am = 2AM, pretty damn horrible

    And as with boyfriends, doesn't it actually mean the 6 members were friendzoned by their fans? Since it's a substitute for girlfriends which they didn't accept as a fanclub name since that would leave boyfriend's male fans out)

    I actually like Sone, but not with the heart and stuff. Jaywalker is alright, but without the z. Gamers (Kyuhyun) is alright, too cause it makes stalking a celebrity seem kind of cool like Saw or something.

    jaywalkers is pretty good, VIP is completely stupid and unrelated, ELF sounds gay, Sone can be pronounced in 10000 different ways (but every way you say it is wrong to an actual sone).
    BAP's baby is absolutely disgusting. EXOtic was sort of clever but that's not really their fans names.
    Chocolat's is Chocolatier which is completely gay (couldn't help but lol)
    I personally like how PSY's fans are called Chos. I thought that was pretty clever

      I choose Sully. It's very apt for Sulli_fag and applicable in varied contexts

    Lizzbians
    SparKYU ( No but seriously, why would Kyuhyun's fans call themselves that? It's just plain retarded)
    Giraffes ( Again, I'm wondering what Ryeowook's fans are smoking)
    I still don't get 4Minute's 4NIA. Plain gibberish much?
    Brown Eyed Girls' Everlasting. Could've picked something more original
    C-REAL's C-REALing is just... their fanclub name sounds like a bad cereal commercial
    Also MYNAME's Nametag gives me the creeps.
    Also every individual fanclub related to gangsters (Hang Geng's Gengsters, Changjo's Changsters etc)
    There are more bad fanclub names than good ones sadly. I personally like Mir's MIRacle, Blackjacks and Sungmin's fanclub name isn't that bad either. Mmm, vitaMINs.

    did I mention that B.A.P's baby sounds ghei?

    I like all the SNSD member fanclub names besides "GorJess Spazzers". "GorJess" is a nice nickname and all but her club doesn't have the same ring to it as Sooyoungsters, Seomates or Taegangers.

    I thought B2uty was one of the best ones. It's apt, and there's some actual thought that's been put in to it.

    SONE is something that had some thought put in to it, but still turned out retarded. 소원 = Sowon = So-One, that I have no problem with. Sowon is Korean for 'wish', So-One can be an expression that reinforces unity in English. Fine. But then some bright spark decided to merge the two O's into a love heart, to make it S♡NE. Meh. But nobody has a heart symbol on their keyboard, s they just write SONE instead, making it look like a one syllable word. Stupid.

    I remember when ZE:A first came out and didn't have a fanclub name. Fans decided on Royals. (Children of) Empire = royalty... plus in Korean it'd be pronounced the same as 'Loyal'. So yeah, a bit of thought put into it. Then their company come out and announce their fanclub name would be ZE:A'S. What the cunting fuck?

    And why do they like sticking random apostrophes in there? Like Queen's. Queen's what? Learn what apostrophes are for, for goodness' sake. What was wrong with Diadem?

    Also, ELF must have been thought up by a mong.

    Shinbi-unni, I am appalled that you brashly judged Cassiopeia as an illogical name :/ Have you researched on it that it's related to the 5 prominent stars of the constellation Cassiopeia? The 5 stars represent the 5 members :/ I think despite the notoriety of Cassies as among the delusional and pathetic (prior to the TVXQ-JYJ separation), their fandom name is among the most logically clever I've heard of.

    I think 4NIA is the best. 포니아 = Pornia? lol

    ON a side not, SISTAR's Star1 is very generic for a fandom despite that it was actually fan-voted. I was rather expecting a trickier one like from Star1 (쓰타1 / SeuTaIl) = Style. But meh, sounds Engrishy

    For individual member fanclub names I would have to go with Blingers (Jong-hyun) and Flamers (Minho). I mean Key (Lockets) Onew (MVP) and Taemint{s} (Taemin), are super cute names, what happened?

    I like EXOtic even though it's not the official fandom name. I like Lockets and I like B2TY (just not the spelling).

    I like when fandom names have clever wordplay like Chingyu and Seomates but there's a fine line between clever and ridiculous. (Taemint what)

    I don't like BBC, Baby, Secrettime, and I like Block B, B.A.P and Secret. I don't like ELF, it sounds terribly cheesy. Flamer makes me think of Burger King. And ZE:A's is just lazy -__-

    BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT FAN CUB COLOURS INSTEAD

    I think BlackJack is really clever when you look at how it relates to the number 21. That's pretty much it.

    I also like how 2PM's fan club name can be altered depending on how you feel about them: Hottest, Lukewarmest, Coldest.


    The dumbest fandom names belong to some of my favourite groups: Baby, BBC, Bana, Inspirit, Angel - - so much fucking second hard embarrassment.

    The “BA” in “BANA” is from B1A4,
    and the “NA” is from the korean word “Banada”
    (which means “we have fallen for each other”.)

    thus, “Bana” means that B1A4 has fallen for their fans, and the fans have fallen for B1A4.
