Soyeon & The Gang - Like The Wind

T-ara's first title track worth listening to in fucking forever comes from the "other sub-unit", Qri, Boram, and Soyeon. While the subunit is known as QBS, it's really just Soyeon and her two assistants.

The song itself it standard J-pop fare that has been coming out from the country for the past 20+ years. If you like the typical J-pop song, this song will be up your alley. For those of you that don't, this song will do nothing to change your mind.

Before the song came out, I did fear that the song would have even line distribution, which would have been a major mistake in this case. Fortunately, Soyeon sings 95% of the song so that we don't have to listen to Qri and Boram's awful singing. I honestly don't know why Kpop groups try to balance out the number of lines given to members. The members who can't sing for shit shouldn't get lines (or probably shouldn't be in the group at all...) in the first place.

The MV really no budget, but I'm sure the girls would rather spend time at a beach than to spend time with Chris Brown's black ass. They don't have to fear getting Rihanna'd by him, so it's a win-win for them.

In the end, it's just another J-pop song like the millions of others we have heard before, but at this point in time, I'll take something extremely formulaic that works than what T-ara N4 did. While T-ara N4's Countryside Life had lyrics calling out their haters, the nonsensical English and Taewoon's rap ruined what little the song had going for it. In Like The Wind, it's just a song where Soyeon sings with a few lines from Boram and Qri, sticking to what works for them instead of trying to insert shit that doesn't belong there in the first place.

T-ara is supposed to return as seven once again and release an original Japanese single before their next album. I'm not expecting much, but at the very least, it needs to be better than Bunny Style.

Am I the only one that like the countryside life song? And yeah, I'm getting sick of that SPEED guy popping up everywhere in CCM's MV.

    1. Countryside Life is pure win in my book just because whoever wrote the damn thing called out their haters. The rap was standard K-Pop idol rapping that you really ought to be used to by now (because it's permeated every song since god knows how long XD).

  2. T-ara's new Japanese song "Target" is already out, and it's awesome. The only k-pop group that having songs written for the Japanese market worth a damn lately. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x11fk5h_t-ara-target-mv_music#from=embediframe

Also even though it ain't no "Sexy Love", "Roly Poly" "Bo Peep" etc I liked Countryside Life... better structuring would have helped but out of all the "let's try and do a structurally different song in k-pop in 2013" it's still by far the best one going. Which arguably ain't saying much given that the benchmark is IGAB, I'll admit.

    1. Target is so good. It makes me want to play some DDR or something. And the MV is... I don't know but I think I like it.

    2. The video reminds me of something very specific yet unrelated to DDR. I feel a video review coming on.

    3. Kind of reminds me of Black Rock Shooter but I don't know why since they're completely different.

    4. It's obviously a play on Gradius...

    5. The only good thing about Countryside Life were the lyrics, Roly Poly lyrics were nonsensical and the song got irritating to hear after the 5th time within 2 hours, it was wayyy too popular for my preference. Sexy Love could use some improvements, but the song to beat is definitely Crazy Because Of You. Yayaya (ignoring the blatant ignorance + racism of the mv) and WRYBLT are also some of the girls' best promoted songs. This is my thought.

  4. There's something disturbingly awkward about watching these three hold hands and frolic along the beach.

  5. Man, read that as "it's really just Soyeon and her two autists"... guess it's time to go off the internet for today.

I didn't see it earlier, but this video made it apparent that something about Soyeon changed...
This is boring as fuck, and yet still better than the N4 thing.

  6. For some reason, I it makes me sleepier whenever I listen to it while drawing at night. Guess that's one benefit.

Though better than N4's chanting, that I fully agree.

    I'll call it a draw.

  8. At least QRI still looks like a BAD CHICK.

The song is more boring and bland than a super junior member, girls do Not Let Me Down Again :-((
