[MV Review] Twice - Ooh Ahh

The next nation's girl group has finally debuted, and Twice is already off to a strong start.

I almost forgot about Twice's debut earlier in the week, since I literally spent 2 AM to 8 PM studying all week. Then I got to watch the MV on my phone, but it's just not the same as watching MVs on a computer screen.

I was a huge fan of the Sixteen variety show, and luckily(?) I was too busy over the past few months to wait for Twice to debut. It didn't feel like three months to me, but it may have been for most people waiting for Twice.

At first, I didn't like the song too much. I thought it was too good, but I was hoping for something really great so that everyone would accept Twice as the real nine-member nation's girl group and forget about Granny Generation. However, this song is a real grower, like someone's penis whenever they look at 7 of the members (and 9 if they don't mind a visit from Chris Hansen).

The verses seem awkward upon the first few listens, as they switch between slow singing and rapid-fire singing line by line, but it works because the members usually have 1-2 lines at a time. It helps to keep the verses more lively and interesting because they could have been really forgetful if there wasn't a back-and-forth between the members. On the other hand, the chorus does its job very well. It creates some stability to offset the verses. The song can sound disjointed at first, but almost all of the pieces mesh well together. The only exception is the rap section with Dahyun and Chaeyoung, as it just feels forced in there.

JYP made a smart move to debut Twice with a song like this. It's not too far out there like an f(x) song, and it's not too vanilla so as to bore the listener. The song has enough energy to it without having an instrumental that could put off potential fans. While it would have been nice Twice burst out of the gate with a song like miss A's "Bad Girl Good Girl," but the song is strong enough for a debut song.

Onto the members, they're all hot. Tzuyu was my favorite from Sixteen, but Momo is just too fucking hot.

10/10 would fuck Momo in the ass.

  1. Tzuyu and Momo are really damn attractive.

    Song is pretty much a let's-play-it-safe debut.

  6. All the members are hot, sadly, half of the girls are still underage

  7. Tzuyu, Momo and Mina make me cum buckets.

    Tzuyu has bonus points for being Taiwanese like me
    Blonde Momo in that too-lewd mesh leotard is life (seriously give the costume coordi a fucking raise just for that)
    Mina actually looks very Korean (whereas Tzuyu and Momo distinctly look foreign) but in the good hot way.

    Sana is a respectable, if distant 4th for me but yeah the foreigner line is top tier fap material (Age of consent in Taiwan is 16 and 13 in Japan so HA) and its gonna take me many a night to finally sort out my bias list

  8. So what are the Chris Hansen approved ages to fap in each part of the world? Please correct this if wrong:

    * USA (and possibly the rest of the continent nobody cares about too): 18. Unless it's a hot day, then 30m after death.
    * Europe: 18. Some countries 16 or 14 if sex is between same aged automatons. If you are underage there, fapping spree!
    * Africa: who cares.
    * Korea: 21?
    * Japan: Lolis, lolis everywhere.

    1. Most States in the U.S. are lower than 18. For example it is 16 in Pennsylvania and 17 in New York state.

    2. Europe varies from country to country. It is 15 in Czech Republic, the most common is 16. 18 is only in Turkey, which isn't even real Europe.

  9. JYP was smart to bring in the foreigners for any future plans to make a strike for the Japanese market. In fact, I get the feeling that the Japanese members and the Taiwanese girl are more popular than the Korean members, with the international fans and quite possibly with even Korean fans. Other than Nayeon, I don't hear as much talk about the Korean members as much as the foreigners are getting.

    1. Err... Perhaps, it is because, other than Nayeon, the other Korean members just ain't that attractive? (sorry, Jihyo and Dahyun have never been my type, whereas Chaeyoung still young)

    2. tbh, the Japanese and Taiwanese girls are the ones who drew me into this group in the first place. Their "natural" look really stand out for me. What does that tell you about Korea's "standard of beauty." What I mean by that is they're known for face lifts, there's no denying that. Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing Korea's beauty. I've been enamored with Korean girls for ten plus years since I was a fanboy back in the day. But seeing so many Korean girls all "look the same" like molded in a cookie cutter over time makes you rethink or open your eyes to natural beauty.

  10. TWICE almost won The Show, only lost to Shinhwa's Kim DongWan by 19 points

  11. If there's a MV that the creepy JYP whisper fits, this is it. I like the MV more than the song, but the MV is very good.

    Replace Girls' Generation? Let's see their variety show skills.
