Weekly Showdown: Battle of the Labels

[Results of last showdown here]

Since there hasn't been any good new music (or at least anything showdown-worthy) these past two weeks, I decided I'd ask you guys this instead: Which record label do you think put out the best music in 2015? I'm just gonna put the "Big three," but you guys can click "other" if you think none are worthy enough.

I won't even bat an eyelash before saying this: It's SM for me. 2015 was definitely a great year for SM. Why? Three reasons: F(x), Red Velvet, and EXO. All three have put out spectacular albums this year. Granted, they may have shitty management that probably treats their idols like shit, but there's no denying their music quality. So yeah, SM, you may suck at a lot of things, but making music isn't one of them. Although you might wanna work on Girls' Generation a little harder than that.

  1. Voted JYP because of the mamma butt song.
    Don't care if it counts.

  2. It has to be JYP; Miss A, Got7, 2PM, and TWICE all had good songs come out (Got7 also had a very shit one but we gloss over that). SM only really had Red Velvet waving the flag. YG had Bigbang and iKON and only about 3 of the songs they put out were good.

  3. Totally SM: SHINee, RV, Super Junior, even SNSD/Taetan.

  6. Sometimes I wish SNSD's popularity dropped by half so that SM would give them better songs. I really want to enjoy watching their performance again.

    1. Yeah, i always wish SNSD's popularity dropped by half, just so others would have a chance in lists. Like f(x) and Gfriend.

  7. SM's output has usually been fairly predictable (with exceptions), so it surprised me how much they've succeeded with their experimentations this year. As many have noted, f(x), SHINee, Red Velvet, and Exo all had either great title tracks or solid albums (or both). JYP had Miss A's "Colors" mini album and the Wonder Girls' "Reboot", which were both fantastic, as well as Twice's debut. I know Got7 and 2PM promoted as well but I haven't really kept up with them.

  8. SM, JYP, then YG. YG's better at trapping his artists in the dungeon than he is at producing anything nowadays.
