Looks like fail(x) are at it again with their string of remakes.
3.46 mins of my life that I'll never get back.
Their 1st full length album 'Pinocchio' being labelled as 'garbage' & 'flop' by K-pop fans was filled with rejected SNSD songs which left me with no hope whatsoever about this group's identity and future that SMent are trying or failing to establish.
However, I was looking forward to the title track on their repackage album after I saw this MV teaser for their title song 'Hot Summer' that looked somewhat promising since it does look quite nice as Krystal & Victoria are looking unf. I couldn't care less that this song was going to be a remake of Monrose's 'Hot Summer' since it's SM we're talking about. SM + remakes = <3
On the bright side, fail(x)'s failure of a rapper Manber has few lines so HOORAY! However Manber's crazy ass stans are busy complaining about how their oppar is being neglected.
Seems like a long, long way until f(x) cements themselves in the K-pop biz, as for now they're overshadowed by their senior label-mate SNSD.
I'll be watching the MV on mute while listening to The Quiett. I'll get the best of both worlds.

The only terrible part is (as usual) Amber's rapping. They should just have her sing - she isn't bad actually, much better than her rapping anyways.

The fact that both songs are remakes makes it exponentially more embarrassing.
^ As a musician, I can safely say there is no such thing as *objectively* bad music. It's a matter of personal preference. I really hate gangsta rap, but there's no way I can say that it is BAD (no matter how much I'm tempted to), because clearly if gangsta rap instills the same feelings in someone else as music I like does for me, then how can you argue against that?

Show me music you like and I can say it's shit. How could you possibly argue against a statement like that? It's based entirely on one's subjective preferences.
That's why I stated what I liked about Danger. I liked the harmonies, especially in the chorus, and I liked the deep synthesizer bass that f(x) seems to be using in all their songs now.

ReplyDeleteI also have a pretty broad taste in music, and until recently, I dismissed k-pop as being bland and generic. I still think most of k-pop is bland and generic, but I've taken more of an interest in it nowadays. Just goes to show my point again.
