Jackie Chan making a kpop group

So yeah, Jackie Chan's Korean label is starting a kpop group.

Because when I think of kpop, I think of Jackie Chan.

The group's going to be called Double JC, which I can only assume is short for "Jackie Chan Jackie Chan." Other than the name and a spring debut time, not much else has been revealed about them.

As I see it, there are pros and cons to the whole venture.

Pros:

  • Guy's got a lot of money to put into this (and really isn't that what it is all about).
  • Name recognition will help the group a lot as rookies.
  • He's working with a producer who has been in the business for a long time.
  • They would have an easier time promoting/becoming popular in China, which they'll also target, der.

Cons:

  • Name recognition could backfire with a group created by an action star instead of a former idol, etc.
  • They'll still be debuting in a market over-saturated with rookies.

Whatever happens, I'm hoping the outcome will look something like this:

  1. JC JC, that means it's twice as good then if it was just one JC. That's pretty sound logic, imo.

  2. I'm not sure why he decided to do this but hey, anything Jackie Chan related is A+ in my books. And if they're anything like Crayon Pop then that's even better.

  3. I hope their debut-single will be a remake/cover of Kung-fu fighting, and that they'll all be dressed in Kill Bill outfits or something equally hilarious/horribad.

Was the whole article a thinly veiled excuse to showcase Crayon Pop, or do you just hope Jackie Chan Jackie Chan will be genuinely good?
