Saturday Shitfest #2

The first Saturday Shitfest turned out much better than anticipated, so this will be AKF's new weekly feature.

the reason I posted After School's Ah just so that we could compare how far AS has fallen. I listened to their new song, and yeah, I already forgot what the song was about aside from the pole dancing. I'm working on seven MV reviews and two album reviews for AKF right now. Since people expect more than "Jesus Christ, this shit fucking sucks dick", "I'd rather have a whale fuck me in the ear than listen to this shit", etc. for my MV reviews now.

MFW I listen to After School's songs. I feel your pain, Jooyeon.

  3. so wait, during shitfests we can say anything we want in the comments yes?

The pole dance concept is great, it just can't save the terrible song imo, seriously, it's so boring and dull, I can even barely notice the different structure of the song, it's just so flat.

and btw akf, wtf is jjangbak? I asked my korean friend and she doesnt know what it is lol, isn't it the same as daebak?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, anything goes here in these threads.

Jjangbak is a portmanteau of jjang and daebak. Zaku started the trend of using that word here.

      Delete
    2. Tell all your friends, we're inventing new slang here.

  4. I couldn't even listen to the song, it was dull.

I loved the E-Young trailer 100 times more than the song itself in context: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFnmmJtvLbs

AS have shit songs sometimes but they're crazily talented. Netizens take a shit on them all the time because they don't have a diva-style vocalist, they seem to think "vocal talent" and "acting talent" are the only types of talent that matter and everything else is nothing (which is dumb as fuck in a genre where the benchmark for female success is Madonna, who had neither). I'll take AS's pole-dancing marching-drum-playing tap-dancing [insert whatever they do next here] styles over some technically-perfect but boring as fuck endlessly warbling diva vocalist any day.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Those two types of talent are the only two things plebs can relate to. If the peasants (read: not just netizens) could understand technical or compositional ability, they wouldn't even be listening to kpop in the first place.

      Delete
    2. I agree with you guys to a great extent, but for vocals, I want them to at least to be able to sing. They don't have to sing like Mariah Carey or whatever, but they should at least be better than Qri was during IGCBOY.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlCJB6s_a2M

With that being said, 99% of the time I listen to songs that are listenable by artists/groups who have some level of competence, but they don't have to be the greatest at singing. I mean come on, I mainly listen to BoA, Jolin Tsai and Amuro Namie. Those three aren't going to be winning "best vocalist evar in da wurld" anytime soon.

      Delete
    3. Except most diva style singers sing very incorrectly. I do agree with you, though. I don't see why After School is being shit on, because there are way worst singers in the K-Pop world XD They do the job decently *and* they have kickass concepts to go along with them.

    1. Did Koreans really believe that Wolf is the cure for depression or what? I didn't know EXO had enough fangirls to rig music shows, but then again, B1A4 has enough fangirls to rig shows, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

      Delete
    2. Did you see the viewer preference category? Just 0

      Delete
    3. Holy shit, that's hilarious. The fangirls must have bullied some of their classmates into buying the album. Since they're from SM, I'm sure their digital sales are shit.

      Delete
    4. B1A4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> EXO

What's Going On might be a cracktastic song, but they are capable of being serious *points to Tried to Walk*

      Delete
    5. Eh, Wolf is shit, but the rest of the album is surprisingly solid.

      Delete
    6. You could say the same for B1A4: their album is pretty good, better than Exo's. B1A4's is solid ass shit, exo's is solid as diarrhea

      Delete
    7. Yeah their digital sales were shit and they only won on physical sales and broadcast points.... Their physical sales are 100x any other competitor through xD

      Delete
    8. Of the top competitors... Vixx gets within 1/10th of their sales (not suspicious at all ;), when Hyori isn't even close)

      Delete
    9. Is it just me or is the winner of Music Bank/Music Core always just the artist with the biggest public profile 100% of the time? Let's face it if you're some new relatively unknown group and some big name group is on the same bill as you, you're not gonna win no matter what, you might as well not even bother.

      Delete
    10. miss A won with their debut song against more popular groups, but that was three years ago before everyone got mad about idols debuting left and right. Rookies won't be winning for the most part because of the prejudice against "nugu groups", though it is safe to say that the nugu groups are the ones with better songs. I've enjoyed songs from GLAM, Crayon Pop, EXID/Dasoni, etc. more than the "songs" from established groups like SNSD and 4minute.

      Delete
    11. I used to be a YG stan and I haven't liked a single release since I Love You... The Big 3 are just dying...

      Delete
    12. Veteran groups have been shitty this year. I blame SNSD, they went all weird with IGAB and it's set a trend that the other big groups have followed. In the meantime the nugus have been bringing some serious quality.

      Delete
    13. I admit I almost cried when I saw Suho breaking down like that, but the fact that the song was shitty didn't make me all that happy about them winning. You see exotics being happy and all on freaking Tumblr, but almost none of them said that they deserved it.

      Delete
    14. people win for their absolute worst songs
infinite only started sweeping awards for man in love, which was their worst song since that god awful debut piece of trash they got stuck with.
suho's "crying" was really fake #nextleeteuk
they probably only won because EXO fans are totally determined to make them win, and then pretend that five people streaming on melon nonstop for a week = legitimate victory.
bumkey should be winning these awards what is wrong with the world

    15. What else can you expect from a fandom that's probably composed of former ELFs that want to stan younger guys now that Super Junior isn't long from becoming Super Senior.

      Delete
    16. exotics are slightly scarier than elfs imo, there are whole blogs dedicated to showing exo's schedule; these people LITERALLY know where their oppars are every minute of every day, and the minute any event is over (and a lot of the time, before it's over) there are gifs and photos and fanaccounts on TUMBLR, which means that the original ones in korean/chinese were posted like thirty minutes before.

      scary.

      Delete
    17. I actually find some of the gifs and macros that EXOtics come up with very humorous. They might be psycho, but they're entertaining.

      Delete
    18. EXO weirds me out because more than any other group they seem like they're there SPECIFICALLY so fan girls can freak out about them and their weird mannerisms that seem devised specifically so that fan girls can find them so weird and adorable. They're like fan-service taken to the next level but they are so awkward to me. Plus they all look pissy and vain all the time just like pouting constantly. Like are they intentionally like that? Why would their handlers encourage them being like that? So weird. The whole thing.

      Delete
    19. they seem to do that with some members, eg chanyeol's "happy virus" thing is probably the most insincere attempt at anything i have ever seen, but then there are other members like lay and baekhyun who seem to have been much more interesting before they debuted.

      Tldr im just venting.

Ps. Is this shitfest supposed to be like a forum or someshit?

      Delete
    3. No, not like a forum. It's basically just like any other AKF article, but the comments aren't limited to what the article is about.

I hate most forums because it's just people bullying each other based on how high their post count is. "Oh, good for you, you live on this forum and have so many posts, so that automatically gives you some right to be a dick." If you go to places like One Hallyu or Allkpop, there isn't any discussion. People just post reaction gifs while 1-2 people argue about which oppa has a better six pack.

    4. jaejoong and chun are in a few dramas/movies and junsu does a few musicals here and there these days. tbh i think that the 'record breaking' stress is what jyj left to get the fuck away from, 2VXQ seems to have absolutely no free time

I was surprised by that Kim BoA-Led Apple cover of that Pink-Fun duet. It wasn't completely an Engrish mess because Led Apple happened to have a native English speaking vocalist, who was raised in Australia.

  20. I don't understand why people hate Simon and Martina so much, I mean they are cool with their food and hanging out places, they review MVs honestly and not like delusional fangirls, when it's bad they say it's bad. What I kinda hate them for sometimes is the fact they have to fucking review terrible stuff all those delusional fangirls fucking vote on (the system changed now, so not so much), I mean, I know you make money off your massive delusional fangirls views, but sometimes I don't think they even try to keep their male or sane audience.

    1. Besides the Shinhwa incident of last year (which shall not never mentioned again!!), I can't say that there's been too much that S&M have done that has really made me raise an eyebrow. Also, the K-Pop industry is run by insanity (insane slave monger companies, insane fans, and sometimes, insane group members XD), so idk why people are so pissy that EYK pander to them, sometimes; they are lowly K-Pop fans at the end of the day, just like the rest of us XD

      Delete
    2. I quite like what they do and I even agree with a lot of their opinions which are honestly pretty level-headed. What I don't like is their annoying Captain Obvious attempts at humour - they'll get a joke that's good for about 3 seconds of laugh time before it gets old and stretch the fucking thing out to over a minute sometimes. I think they've been watching too much k-drama which is even more guilty of the same thing. Other than this they're fine. Sure they're fans like all of us but they're not cray-cray fans. And Martina has a nice rack and is good about wearing different clothes on every video so I find her very watchable. Yes I'm a bad person and going to hell etc.

      Delete
    3. lol i didnt see 'nice rack' coming

anyways I agree that sometimes they just stretch the joke too far that I feel a second hand embarrassment watching it, the worst one was their gentleman & GS parody, I don't even know how people find that shit funny.

  25. Just realised that FT Island are doing alot better in Japan ( in terms of musicality, I know their japanese stuff won't be selling like crazy -see Korea- ) where they can actually play decent songs and not those pop-rock-dance-whatever ones they do in Korea. I know there are many negative comments about them but they have actual talent, they should definitely move to Japan. I guess the same think can be said about CNBlue but they have Jonghyun who's just an amazing acoustic singer.
