It's not like if I'd live in Korea and have the possibility to go to concerts or fansigns oppar would look at me and be all like: "omigosh, you stranger, marry me nao".

They'd be like "Brazil" and I'd spit back at them the enormous list of concerts South America/Brazil has gotten in the last two years. Response is usually "Oh I don't like that band!" or "Oh I don't have money!" Haven't people ever heard of saving money? Or airplanes?

DeleteI live in such country. Sometimes (very rarely) kpop concerts are held in a city that is not far, but not close to my city. Anyway, even if I lived in that city or in another country I wouldn't spend my money for it. I mean, if you can listen to their songs at home, with good quality, why bother going to concerts. Standing in a crowd with other sweaty people who scream their lungs out at the sight of their oppas' abs. Many celebs sing bad live and if you add dancing, result would be terrible. I've never been to concerts, though. :/
ReplyDeleteConcerts can add to the experience. Something like Pendulum or Marilyn Manson provides, regardless of the individual's taste, good live performances, coupled with reasonable crowd interaction.
DeleteI would personally discourage, as you yourself already are, from seeing really only pop-ish all-singer concerts, as they rely heavily on routine and 3rd party support, usually in the form of probs, back-up dancers and display monitors (etc.), to give the illusion (keyword), there is more going on, than there really is.
TL;DR: You are well within your justification to hate the "pink ocean".

DeleteIMO, only rock and metal concerts are good. I've been to many (kpop, melodeath, American pop - don't ask about my taste in music, it's very queer) and up to now, only metal bands have showcased something more than I've heard on their CDs and stuff. Kpop concerts are awful (especially SM) because they're filled with annoying brats that seem to think oppa loves them and the performers themselves don't fucking sing live (wtf,sm?). So what's the point of me paying a $100 and up for a shitty kpop concert when I can pay like $60 and down for an awesome Dark Tranquility or In Flames concert?

ReplyDeleteI live in a country that- I'm now quite happy to say- isn't "non-existent" to the KPOP world anymore. A band comes here every month starting from early 2013, and bitches call you "picky" if you're a KPOP fan and you decide not to go to any of the concerts because of personal reasons (you don't like the band that's performing, you're 13 like me, you're not allowed to go, etc). I've only been able to see BTOB walking (soz I like dem) for like 16 seconds at their fan-meeting and it's not really worth it because they were like half an hour late and the people kept pushing me. At least I learned to never really make an effort to come early because Oppar durrrs won't either. Judging from that, you aren't really missing out on much.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that she'll probably be broke as heck from tending to every one of her daughter's Oppar durrs needs. Countries that are "regarded as an actual existing country" to the KPOP world often have concert tickets with prices ranging from $100+, and that's not going to get them a very good seat.
