Yes, Sports Chosun released its latest girl group ranking. There's some big changes from last year, like the meteoric rise of AOA and Hani EXID. But fear not, friends, some things remain the same: T-ara is still getting the shaft as they stay mired in shit tier, aka the "Popular Maginot Line."

Delete1. Both groups still can't surpass SNSD's album sales, especially with GSD being so shit with physical albums and they are not relevant enough outside of worst Korea. SNSD despite has been consistent with shit releases over the year still can sell tons of albums and sell out tokyo dome. inb4 physical albums mean nothing
Delete2. Lack of individual popularity. Nobody gives a shit about Namjoo, Hayoung and Chorong outside the fandom. People are still calling it Eunji's group. Naeun is still popular for having the most fuckable face and body in kpop and for having a virtual marriage with another girl from a popular boy group. Bomi tried hard to be Hyeri in Real men but netizens just don't buy her fake, weak aegyo. As for GSD, Minah has fallen because she simply sucks so much (sperm) and GSD is now known as Hyeri's group. It maybe also because Sojin looked like a $10/hr thai hooker pre-ps.

4. 2ne1 has massive YG "fuckfaces" stans especially with their international "fuckfaces" YG stans. And it's also because Bom and GD provide them with enough drugs to keep them coming.
5. Sistar stops being relevant after Soyu became an iljin and sold out to that "fuck this song is so fucking boring why is it even relevent" some.
I am aware that Apink only has three usful members and that GsD does terribly phisically but this just means that we now have nugus spearheading the hallyu wave. SNSD's popularity will be difficult to gauge until they have another Korean comeback but considering the main selling point for delusional sones was the soshi bond they could well be on their way out. Anyway, all these girl group rankings are completly irrelevant because SNSD, Kara and T-ara are the only ones making any decent money.

If they can manage to not come out with more abominations like Mr. Mr and IGAB, i think they can maintain their position at least for 1-2 years more. Plus they are really pushing Seohyun's group of trio now so that's gotta count for something.
DeleteI for one, am expecting the new queen of Kpop to be crowned this year, that is Red Velvet. The much superior Red Velvet will replace SNSD and all the heartbroken and fallen SNSD (and fx) stans will move on to a greener pasture. I heard jinnabit has already moved on to Red velvet too so that will help with securing more fansites for Red velvet because she has such good connections with people you know.
Be Natural is worse than anything SNSD has ever released, A-side or otherwise. It's foolish to think SNSD will disband just because they've lost popularity. If group's disbanded just because they weren't at the top of their game anymore T-ara and 2NE1 would have disbanded two years ago. What I'm hoping for is that SM will do the exact same thing they did with TVXQ! and release actual good music for SNSD. And I wouldn't worry about jinnabit. She'll leave the fandom as soon as Red Velvet get into their inevitable dating scandal.

But as much as they hate to admit it, if any one of T-ara was walking down the street, they would be equally noticed, people would flock from Hani to any member of T-ara, because it's fucking T-ara. Despite how hated they are, or as netizens like to lead on that they are, you flock to famous people regardless of how you personally feel about them. It's because they're celebrities, and T-ara are bigger celebrities than both Exid and Nine Muses, in or out of Korea.

ReplyDeleteA Pink will be second if they continue like this, I think AOA and GsD are a bit overrated here. A Pink has the healthiest fanbase with a seemingly good gender ratio (like SNSD), and IF SNSD winds down even further you know which group Sones are jumping to. Not fuckin' Sistar I can tell you that. A Pink got the variety chops, they got the good catchy songs, they're all HAWT and they could beat all the other groups in a fight, if it came down to it.

ReplyDeleteThey used "industry Experts" that were hilariously from all of the companies that the top listed groups are in. As in Cube, JYP, SM participated, Starship Empire participated, random fucking companies. MBK did not participate.
