As you all well know, there was a lot of buzz generated by news of his 19+ MUSIC VIDEO WITH HOT UNDERAGE GIRL! ...but then it turned out to be just a song wherein he is pissed because he's stuck in the friendzone and decided to call her boyfriend a dirty word.
Hearing the nationwide yawn upon this reveal, he decided to try and prove he can be TRULY CONTROVERSIAL AND EDGY with his new album. Pics after the jump.
Um... wow, yeah... this is definitely new... it's not like people have been using Christian imagery to make a cheap splash in pop music for decades... and it's definitely not an obvious aping of Kanye's somewhat recent thematic abuses... nope, this is completely original and shocking and yet also very artistic and not desperate at all...
I don't get it, are you a bible basher or suttn? Why you so mad?
ReplyDeleteThe box art looks nice, I don't get how the use of christian imagery makes him look insecure.
No, I'm an atheist. And what made me seem mad? I'm clearly being condescending. In regard to why it's lame, what is so hard to figure out? He needs attention, he has no confidence in his own identity and creativity to get that attention, so he hijacks religious icons to juxtapose himself with what 2 billion people consider to be God, which is considered to be sacrilegious/irreverent and would thus play to a rebel/bad boy image. In reality, it's artistically cheap, desperate, and pathetic.
DeleteI'm atheist to but when I saw this Prince came to mind. I am waiting for his purple rain moment. When he is wearing a speedo with fish net stakings or thong pants suit. That would be more convincing of his true persona than this crap.
DeleteIt is a shame Christian imagery is the most used for publicity stunts. Can you imagine if he used a star and crescent? Not saying that he should have but it seems more and more Christians are the only group acceptable to victimize.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going for shock value I think it'd be more fun to mix sensitive images. Imagine this: A nazi swastika, inside a star of david, with a japanese imperial red sun flag backdrop, pasted on the side of a black panther, then name the album "muhammad's holy jihad" or something.
DeleteGD is going to steal your idea.
DeleteLawd that would a site
Delete"Christians are the only group acceptable to victimize." lolwut
DeleteSatan...get thee behind me...but...only after...I'm done...taking a hit...from the bong...
ReplyDeleteI bet his penis is tiny.
ReplyDeleteThe dude is a walking joke. He thinks, he is the only human capable of "critical" thinking, and shows it by pouring ice cream in his hair, and calling it a dye job.
I'm surprised there's no hidden "o" between the G and D.... So I wonder what's the deep, meaningful theme behind this.. since, y'know, YG stuff is oh so in-depth, esp wit the stuff they've released lately.......
ReplyDeleteIt's the same kind of Gothic-inspired imagery (crosses, wings, etc...) that was popular in the 90s-00s. It looks a little like the cover of some Death Note volumes.
ReplyDeleteGD's talent lies in copying and appropriating stuff and recycling it in a way that is appealing to his public. There's nothing wrong with that, many other artists do exactly the same. But nothing about him or his work can be called original.
I'm curious to see what he'll come up with for the new girl group.

Just like Lady Gaga ^__^ (I get tired of people talking about how original she is...)
GD's wtfery is exactly what makes Kpop entertaining so I'm not complaining, although anticipating future controversy to be the size of Dok2do island. Don't let me down GDruggin senpai! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ2HcRl4wSk
ReplyDeleteWait lol gd aftering attention? Dont make me laugh
ReplyDeleteI hate both box art. The first one looks like it was taken out of an Evolution for Kids book and the second one looks exactly like that one Bible in the library you never touch because it's fucking too old and too big. The goths would be ashamed of this if this was put in the same genre as them. If I were a pious Christian, I'd be mad not only because this is sacrilegious, it's also an ugly usage of all those religious symbols. Papa Choi does not approve.
ReplyDeleteGeez GD, for an 'artistic' idol, you sure aren't artistic.
I like that blue coat thingy he;s wearing though.
HOW COME GD CAN'T EVEN MAKE A DECENT SONG WHEN HE RIPS OTHER PEOPLE OFF.
ReplyDeleteEverything GD has been doing in regards to this album is coming out more weak and try-hard than his previous work. Heartbreaker had its low points but it's pretty much a masterpiece compared to what I've seen/heard from this album. A solo album by any of the other members would fair better. They seem to hit their stride during their solo work.
ReplyDeleteI guess Lady Gaga is a better muse for GD than Lil Wayne.
and Drake.
ReplyDeleteCould've done on the Koran and made millions
ReplyDeleteyou mean beheaded
DeleteGD oppa is creative and original, you guys are just biased.
ReplyDeleteisnt this a form of blasphemy??? the album cover no2 looked like a bible...
ReplyDeleteAnd here we have GD trying to pose as some late 19th century Prussian officer >___> What a joke.
ReplyDeleteI was considering buying the album, but after seeing this, I think I'll just go steal one of those bibles they keep in hotel rooms, write GD's name on it, cut out the pages and stick a burned CD in it. Bam, just saved $20.
