Spica Painkiller
This is another hard MV to review. The song is good and everyone can sing. That's right, in a five member idol group, everyone can sing. It's like the fucking Twilight Zone or some shit.
Really, I just have to give props to Lee Hyori. Instead of following the trend and only finding one main vocalist for the group, she found five. All five of these girls could probably be the main vocalist for a group. Instead of basing a group around looks and hoping they get popular through variety shows or dramas (should they actually get any roles), Hyori went back to the basics and made this idol group based around music.
Honestly, it's hard to do reviews when good songs come out. Zaku has some reviews of shitty songs coming up, so look forward to those.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know the "rapper" could hold a note but they're all pretty decent. They're like the Anti-Kara in a way. Now if only they didn't debut after a deluge of shitty girl groups, they might get better attention.

Spica is the only group so far that I just do not dislike anything about them, nothing about their music I hate. Looks? I dont really give a rats ass about looks in MUSIC, which I strive to hear which is lacking so much in kpop. Though none of them are hit with an ugly stick. yes, i even like the redhead.
to be honest, Boa(the redhead) doesn't look so bad here. she seems to be wearing less eye makeup than she was during the russian roulette days, which looks better.

on an unrelated note, there's something about this song that makes me think of a brosnan era bond intro. like its not quite goldeneye....but something....
Well, I have no clue as to T-ara's singing abilities (besides Jiyeon since I watched DH2), I'm just saying it as a joke since the end may be nigh for that group.
DeleteThe song was good and most of them are good looking. The 'second' upmost vocalist kinda reminds me of being in 2NE1, which apparently she was supposed to be included in while in YG (or something close to that).
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that bothers me is that the one with the black hair and blonde tips looks so fucking weird. Her lips are noticeably bigger - not that big of an issue - but her eye sockets are huge.
I blame it on the MV make-up because she look 10X better/more normal than she does in the actual music video.
I'm just happy someone reviewed it, I guess.
Spica are amazing. I watched one of their live perfs of Russian Roulette by fluke and I've been hooked ever since.
