DMTN's Daniel is Korea's Snoop Dogg

If you haven't heard by now, DMTN (the group formerly known as Dalmatian)'s Daniel has been arrested under charges of selling marijuana. Oh shit, right?

We all thought that kind of thing was reserved for those crazy hedonists over at YG, so for a minor group like DMTN to be embroiled in a marijuana scandal of this severity only means one thing: time for the AKF investigative team to go to work.

First of all, let's figure out exactly what the poor lad is being charged of.
DMTN‘s Daniel has denied smoking marijuana, but he has admitted to aiding in distribution.
Daniel had been summoned to the police to be investigated on suspicions of smoking and distributing marijuana. His label released an official statement on the 12th, stating, “Daniel was investigated by the police and prosecutors on the 9th,” and revealed that he was being charged with distributing and introducing marijuana.
The label confirmed that he had not smoked it himself, revealing, “At first, the prosecutors suspected him of smoking it himself and ran a drug test on his hair and urine. However, all his tests came back negative. He was acquitted on the charge that he smoked marijuana, and was investigated for the other charges.
The agency also apologized for his actions, saying, “Daniel immaturely and thoughtlessly believed that as long as he did not smoke himself, it wasn’t a big crime, and that’s what led to this incident.” They also stated that he admitted to the charges and was complying actively with the police and prosecutors’ investigations. The label added, “He’s currently deeply reflecting on his actions. He feels guilty that he acted rashly and committed such a big crime.
“Daniel has not received a court sentence yet, but he does not want to make excuses for his mistakes. He wants to pay the consequences under the law, and the staff is supportive of his decision. We plan to help him mature as a member of society in the future.”
Update: Daniel did not “sell” marijuana but rather is described as a intermediary.
Oh okay. So Daniel didn't smoke a single bit of his product, which is shocking in and of itself (LBR), but instead thought that selling weed wasn't illegal at all. Let's all take a quick water break while we wait for ourselves to stop laughing so hard.

Come on man, whoever's on the PR team for DMTN has got to be smoking a j or two themselves. No one in their sane minds would buy "I didn't know it was illegal to sell weed" as a legitimate excuse, it just makes Daniel look retarded and it makes the label look retarded.

As you might have guessed, netizen reaction was generally of like mind:
1. [+273, -13] Selling and introduction ㅋㅋㅋ What does he think, he's 1 or 2 years old? How in the world could he not have thought that was a crime? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

2. [+226, -11] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ There can't be an idiot more idiotic than him ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+188, -12] Reflection is not enough for celebrities with marijuana issues ㅡㅡ

4. [+17, -3] ㅋㅋㅋ Is he kidding right now? ㅋㅋㅋ What a complete ba$tard

5. [+23, -8] GD: Welcome, this is your first time here, right?

6. [+14, -2] People who sell marijuana normally don't smoke it themselves... They know it's bad but they also know there's a lot of money involved. But guys who sell are worse than those who smoke it!
"Is he an idiot? It'd make more sense for him to just say that he smoked it out of curiosity ㅋㅋ But introducing sellers?? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"
"Bury him."
"Selling is worse than smoking because you're ruining the lives of others. It will be difficult for him to be forgiven. It's just upsetting because we know how long it took for him to train and finally debut and go through an unknown period..."
"I bet there are a lot of people shaking in their boots right now... There's gotta be a provider and a consumer for Daniel to have hooked them up."
"This is worse... At least if he's smoking it, he's ruining his own body.. but introducing sellers to others? I bet their names will be released soon..."
"Selling is a bigger crime than smoking so what is he talking about ㅋㅋ He didn't think it'd be a crime? What an excuse ㅋㅋㅋ"
"G-Dragon: I didn't know it was marijuana."
1. [+177, -2] So he didn't smoke it but he hooked up sellers... That's a bigger crime than smoking marijuana. What an idiot...
2. [+143, -11] I thought it was the actor Choi Daniel for a second. He should apologize to him.
3. [+122, -5] Just like the pimps are worse than the actual act of selling your body, selling marijuana is worse than the actual act of smoking. Kids like him call themselves celebrities... what will our youth grow up learning? Seeing as how his name is Daniel, he must be trash that came from overseas
4. [+112, -1] So he's saying he's not a criminal because he didn't smoke it? Is he stupid? Doesn't he realize what he committed is a bigger crime?
5. [+112, -7] No, but really, who is he?
But of course, this is also the part where his white knights come charging to the rescue too. Some of the more common arguments I'm seeing on the webs:

  • "OPPA DIDN'T ACTUALLY SELL, HE WAS JUST THE MIDDLEMAN." -- Well, if you didn't know how these drug rings work, the middleman is the one doing the actual dirty work of drug distribution. The dealer (aka the supplier) distributes the weed to the middlemen who basically act like traveling salesmen. They carry the product from the dealers to the consumers' hands. Of course, we don't know exactly what Daniel's role in all this was, but initial reports indicate that he either introduced buyers to other middlemen or sold it himself. Either way, he's inextricably linked to the drug ring. If you'd like to call it that.
  • "OPPA'S SORRY, HE'S DOING THE RIGHT THING NOW." -- Do you think he would have stopped selling/being a part of this drug ring if he DIDN'T get caught?
  • "OPPA'S BROKE, HE WAS TRYING TO MAKE SOME EXTRA MONEY ON THE SIDE." -- Let's all just forgive everyone who breaks the law because of some sob story the fans have concocted to excuse their actions, shall we? Even if he was really broke as shit, I'm sure there's other things he could have done to put food on the table. Like a part-time job, maybe?
At any rate, investigations are still being conducted as of this writing, so who knows? Maybe he'll be smacked with a harder sentence, maybe not. I think the evidence we've uncovered will speak for itself.

No need for thanks, we're just doing the right thing.

  1. Replies
    1. Oppa thinks it's a chinese herb! Fuck chinese!

    2. Weed is good for him , just the fucking media pointed that out to make him lose fans... fuck allkpop and all rumor sites and shit , just inform us of releases !

  2. Ok. 2works, their label stated on their official Google + that the articles are misleading the facts. Daniel introduced two people to each other. Those people selled/bought weed. As I commented that plenty of my classmates are smoking weed, and that if someone would ask me :Hey, do you know where I can get some? I would reply:Sure! Go to this guy! And I'd be shocked if someone would accuse me to be helping selling weed! To which 2works replied that this was exactly what happened to Daniel. He didn't receive money and he didn't have any criminal intention. This is just a huge misunderstanding. If he manages to help"solving the case"he might won't even have to pay the fine

    1. Let me introduce you to the legal terms, "accessory" and "criminal facilitation."

accessory -- "a person who assists in the commission of a crime, but who does not actually participate in the commission of the crime as a joint principal"

criminal facilitation -- "a person is guilty of criminal facilitation if he knowingly provides substantial assistance to a person intending to commit a felony and that person, in fact, commits the crime contemplated, or a like or related felony, employing the assistance so provided"

Let me also remind you that use/sale/possession of marijuana is very much illegal in South Korea.

    2. I forgot to point out that of course, juridically he is guilty of committing the crime. I just wanted to explain how he got into this.

    3. Explain how he got into this? May I ask where do you get your "facts" from? Fan accounts?

    4. As I mentioned in my first comment, I got a reply from 2works entertainment on Google+
If you wanna see screenshots, go on twitter and search @weredalmates and look at the 2 pics.

    5. Of course his agency will cover his arse for him.....He may or may not be directly implicated with the drug ring, but this dude is certainly hanging out with some pretty shady characters.........

    6. Oh you mean the entertainment industry?

  3. lol, some good photoshop there.

  4. It's Snoop Lion now. Also, this guy should've pulled a GD and said he thought it was tobacco.

    1. The joke wouldn't have been the same if I used Snoop Lion. :/

    2. Snoop Lion is a good enough joke in itself.

  5. I've had Cypress Hill's first few albums on repeat ever since I found out about this. Thanks Daniel for reminding me of a time when rap music largely didn't suck.

  6. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Bidness is bidness. Boy's just tryin' to keep up the hustle.

Sometimes you get caught, it happens. I just wonder if he rolls on big name idols, like SNSD, whether someone will step in to protect them. They ain't gonna crucify Taengoo, not now!

  7. the worst side effect of weed is that people who smoke it won't shut the fucking hell up about how much they smoke weed.

    1. That side-effect is due to an additive that is genetically modified and present in all weed, that has been put in it by law enforcement in order to cut down on the time required for investigations.

  8. "Seeing as how his name is Daniel, he must be trash that came from overseas." I LOL'd to this. But how dumb does he think the people of Korea are? Yeah, GDruggin' may have pulled the wool over his eyes, but I doubt the law over there is going to fall for that shit twice. He's an accessory to a crime, and he needs to do the time.

  9. He's gotta make money some how. We all know DMNT ain't shifting copies. I feel bad for the kid. Gotta sell weed just so you can pretend like you have some come-up money...that's a damn shame.

  10. 2. [+143, -11] I thought it was the actor Choi Daniel for a second. He should apologize to him.

    LOL! Dumbass k netizen!

    1. Hey, someone could've associated this terrible news with my name too! He should apologize to me as well.

    2. He should also pologize to Daniel Tosh

  11. How do you do dat sleek smoke effect oppa

    1. What smoke effect, das all real baby.
