Turns Out YG is Just As Arrogant As He's Rumored to Be

Thug Velvet. I like.

Unlike most authors on this blog, I don't have some pent-up hatred toward YG. I treat them as I would any other company in the sense that when YG releases a gem, I'm just fine with them, and when they don't, I'm not. However, I do find YG in general to have the most delusional fans of any company, along with having some artists in way over their pretty little heads.

But as always, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

It appears YG himself along with a slew of other iKON and YG stans were pissed off the other day that Red Velvet beat them and even accused SM of paying mnet to keep iKON off the charts just so "Dumb Dumb" could win.

Seulgi's face after reading that.

... Wow, just wow. What the actual fuck man?!?!?!

First of all, Big Bang's song was promoted. Every song from the MADE series was promoted with a music video and live stages. I'd know because I kept track of Big Bang's promotions in the hopes that they'd release an awesome song (and before anyone asks, I personally think that song was "Sober").

Second, "My Type" is being marketed as a "Warm Up Single" (YG's words exactly), so iKON hasn't even officially debuted yet.

Third, saying SM paid mnet to keep Red Velvet #1 is fucking retarded. Red Velvet may have started out universally hated, but they are now massively liked by the public and "Dumb Dumb" literally killed the charts. It doesn't matter how many "Robbing an Empty House" jokes dumbass netizens make, a group just a little over a year old smashing the charts like that, whether they're from SM or not, is quite impressive. I think we can all say that Red Velvet's comeback hype was very much real, well anticipated, and well received.

Fourth, having iKON win even when they haven't even debuted and iKON fans bragging about them "Winning even though they never debuted" is very, very, very fucking unfair, not to mention, arrogant as fuck. It just goes to show you how YG has successfully brainwashed 90% of his groups fanbases. Red Velvet might have it easier since they're under SM, but at least, they were fully debuted and promoted for two cycles before their first win.

I've been a fan of YG artists since I was 13-14 years old, and I've been through hell and back with their fans ever since. YG stans have always managed to leave a bitter taste in my mouth with their "Copying Big Bang" and "Copying 2NE1" comments, as well as their bashing SM along with any other artists that aren't under YG for being "untalented" while remaining dead serious about it. I could rail on any fandoms whether they're fans of the groups I like or not. Elitist mentalities are never pleasant to say the least, but for every fandom I rail on, I could rail on YG's fandoms twice as long.

Okay, you've suffered enough, have an an Irene fancam:

    1. Lmao, it's mostly BB, 2NE1, and iKON stans that are hectic. Epik High and Psy's seems to be the only ones without the stans that make you ashamed to be fan.

    2. Epik High and Psy were well established long before they joined YG, and YG really doesn't manage either one.

  2. what's even worse is that iKon's song wasn't even that good? it was so dull? I was expecting to hear Bobby spit some fire...but instead he nasally rapped through the song and I was left confused??? I know more groups that have debuted (or released) way better songs than that and get 0 recognition, it just shows you how music is "popular" in Korea. =/

    1. Yeah ''My Type'' is so dull. The only thing I liked about was Chanwoo who I'm stanning because he's cute and everyone seems to hate him, and Jinhwan because he took my attention.

Shame YG hasn't released a gem since Seungri's "Gotta Talk To U" two whole years ago.

    1. I actually didn't mind the Lee Hi and SOME AKMU stuff but other than that YG's been really flat with their main groups.

    1. Probably, yes. Also, Red Velvet's song, MV and overall promotions is great. I wasn't even a fan, but they got me with this last release.
