The 2015 Honours List

Throughout this year, we have all aged; grown wiser and more experienced. However, time has also ravaged our once youthful looks, and we are left with a feeling that maybe we could have put our time to better use. I, for one, used my time absolutely perfectly: listening to lots of shit music, some mediocre music, and a decent amount of good music too now that I think about it. I won't bore you with my wonderful opinions on music that isn't performed in Korean and will instead focus all of my buzzwords and poor reviewing skills onto describing my 15 favourite singles of the year created by folks who hail from the same general area as JYP. How I have chosen to construct this is through using the best song from each of the months of the year, whilst adding in three extra tracks at my own discretion to bring it up to a more pleasant number. I know that you readers have not been privy to four of my honours lists, so I will flag up how every song on the list fits into the magnificent puzzle of my opinions. Once more into the breach my friends, before we are done with the crushing mediocrity of 2015 for good.

Sorry for not being active this month, I had to prepare for university and spend the entire month listening to multiple songs multiple times to see if anything was better than Dumb Dumb. Let's get cracking.

Mind Your Own Business (Ailee)

Ailee has historically given me very little reason to dislike her. She has a consistently great output, looks great while doing it, and every minute she works slightly lowers the attention placed upon Jessi. I am positively thrilled that her new release does not leave me feeling betrayed. What I like most about 'Mind Your Own Business' is, even if it is not the case, it sounds like they got actual instruments rather than shitty MIDI approximations; this makes the song sound far more full and powerful and generally just fucking top. Even if Ailee had to sacrifice her voice to stay as trim as YMC wanted her to (linked to Allkpop for ironic purposes), her voice still sounds pretty damn great to me and does exactly what it needs to do: emote somewhat during the verses and absolutely blast the choruses out. Mine and Ailee's business relationship continues to be genial and I hope that it stays that way for many years to come, I don't want her to become someone who I can only look at with the volume muted.

Wow, August wasn't completely deplorable. Let's see what my embarrassing taste has seen me listening to on repeat this month.

I know that it is halfway through July, but fuck you, I have been in Japan, representing a number of idols without their knowledge to get the JAV industry to express interest. Jooheon will be posing in sexy lingerie within the next month, all thanks to my hard work. Anyway, here's the shit that happened in June.
