"OMFG! A REAL ARTICLE BEING WRITTEN ON AKF! THE APOCALYPSE IS NEAR!"
6-ara makes their second comeback of 2013, and no one is happier than me about 6-ara except for Boram. Boram used to get a decent amount of lines during the original 6-ara days, but when Hwa Doggy Dogg was added to the group, Boram was reduced to getting no lines and resorting to dance breaks to even get any solo time in a song at all. Or maybe she gave Shinsadong Tiger great head after the two got stoned as hell together. I don't know what actually went down, but Boram is getting a shit ton of lines these days, and all ten of her fans must be ecstatic.
The first part of the music video starts off with the ballad version of 'Do You Know Me?', and I'm probably one of the few that wishes it was longer. I've been a long time fan of CCM's ballads, as the ballads are more interesting to listen to and don't fully rely on the singer's vocals for vocalfags to jack off to. The notes actually change within the song, which is much better than the average stock ballad where a simple tune is looped for 4-5 minutes with very little variance.
It is also interesting to listen to a song where Soyeon doesn't anchor it down. There's only one other song that comes to mind (I Go Crazy Because Of You) where Soyeon doesn't have the majority of the lines. It adds good variety, as Hyomin and Eunjung can carry songs, and Jiyeon and Boram are decent enough for idol music.
Next up is the disco version of Do You Know Me?, and it starts off with Haitai not knowing where the fuck he is and suddenly meeting up with Qri and dancing. The next time I see someone who's barely an acquaintance and say "Haven't we met before?", I'm totally going to start dancing, hoping the person and all of the random strangers around us start dancing too.
The disco version plays to T-ara's strengths, and there's no fucking rap in the song, so 5/5. There.
In addition to the song being another jjangbak piece in T-ara's discography, the rest of music video is interesting. I particularly enjoyed how Soyeon was too busy standing on the balcony looking in her mirror while the other five members were dancing. Dancing is below Madame Soyeon.
While all of this is important, the most important thing is that Jiyeon has a challenger in this music video after destroying the rest of the members in Number Nine.
Will Jiyeon give up her spot so easily or will she fight to the end?
Hyomin is fighting Jiyeon right now for the most fappable in the group. Eunjung held the position for so long, just to be usurped so quickly. Her white hair isn't helping her reclaim her throne anytime soon.
Bonus Soyeon just because she's looking so much better after the dreadful QBS days.
Thanks to Soyeon Haven for the Soyeon gif and comekpop for the Jiyeon and Hyomin gifs.
such a bland song it was basically a watered down cheap version of roly poly. The should have just released flaw free number 9 and no follow ups TBH.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it wasn't as lively as Roly Poly, but at least there was no rap. That in itself makes the song much more pleasant to listen to.
DeleteI agree with Citrus Party. The exclusion of a rap makes the song even better, as there weren't any jerky transitions in the song while a rap was being forced in.
DeleteThe rap in Roly Poly keeps it from being my favorite title track.
My favourite T-ara song is wae ireoni.
DeleteI guess im the only one that thinks no 9 is so underwhelming
DeleteThe rap in Roly-Poly makes it my favorite T-ara song.
DeleteQri's intro makes Roly-Poly one of my favourite T-ara songs.

Delete@Mark; I can agree with that, it's cute.
DeleteOh yes!! i was waiting for this, as a T-ara fan i loved everything (especially Hyomin)... I know deep inside my favorite is Soyeon because i like everything about her and i honestly love her body, but the most fappable here at least for me is Hyomin she couldn't look any better in this comeback.
ReplyDeleteSoooo... I hope Korea gives them a big chance on this song but i believe it won't be like that (Only because Exo and Crayon pop did their come back too)... But who cares China and Japan love T-ara.
Yeah, I'm one of the bigger Soyeon fans out there, but Jiyeon and Hyomin have dominated the past two concepts. Eunjung and Soyeon are a level behind them in this comeback, and Qri and Boram, are yeah, Qri and Boram.
Deletehyomin ♥
ReplyDeleteqri is always given the weird/new hair.. lol
it is one of those ways kks have to make any of t-ara members fapable. of course, it seems he has no idea what to do with qri that he just tied everything...
DeleteQri looked really good in that mv
Deletei actually agree although she is currently my most hated for being useless.
Deletei think she looked the prettiest in this MV and my fave Eunjung, the ugliest by far.
I watched the MV only for Son Ho Joon this time.
off topic but ultimate reason to hate fangirls: this whole jonghyun thing
ReplyDeleteso many different stupid opinions have been proudly published on the internet about this today i don't even
Care to link? I don't know what you're referring to.
DeleteSame i want to know what you are talking about.
Deletehttp://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/12317545.html
Deleteso basically jjong changed his twitter dp to a letter by a trans woman that's a part of the whole 'how are you' thing right now, and
a) everybody seems to be forgetting that while this means that he probably supports gay rights, he's calling attention to a much larger movement?????? why is nobody paying attention to this whole 'how are you' thing i think it's a gorgeous thing for young people in any country to be doing (but this is forgivable. prepare yourself for the next ones)
b) THERE IS ALREADY MOTHERFUCKING JONGKEY FANFICTION THAT MAKES REFERENCE TO THIS. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. in fact, i want to personally slap everyone who i have seen saying "well, since he supports lgbt rights, is he gay?" or "is it because key is gay?" it's like saying "well, since you are against racism, are you black"
c) the people who like jjong a little less for supporting lgbt rights (from what i gather this is largely k-fans??? but i've seen some international fans (on tumblr, no less!) do this as well)
d) the hoards of people who now think shawol is the bestest fandom evarrr omg and "this is why SHINee is the best kpop act of all time omo omo!!!" let's all pat ourselves on the back and post funny gifs on tumblr for an outspoken and rather brave public statement that someone else made that has nothing to do with the quality of their music!
I think the SHINee world is the worst kpop fandom. All their jokes are really unfunny, they're extremly perverted and disgusting, they always putSHINee on a high pedestal saying stuff like "Omo SHINee is the funniest group in kpop" or "They're all REALLY good singers" I really cannot stand them. This just takes the cake. I think I'm going to be sick.
DeleteIf he supports LGBT rights then it's fine but the fans are overreacting and putting him in a such high pedestal just because of this which makes me not like Shawols.
DeleteSHINee got boring long ago, i stopped being a fan.
Deleteyeah you got that right not only has every release since their departure from r&b been shit they just don't seem to be able to keep up the shiny happy people act anymore.
Deletei have always loved jonghyun though he's a doll
1st song; completely uninteresting garbage, just as with 99% of pop ballads.
ReplyDelete2nd song; entertaining and very "clichée T-ara". I like it. It's cover afaik.
Needs more Soyeon being hot.
NA OTTOKE
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bat2xOWCYAEs4yO.jpg:large
DeleteYes.
DeleteThanks you.
I agree with needing more Soyeon.
DeleteEunjung's vocals are still subpar even after so long, and I can't survive with just good ol' Hyomin carrying the group, sigh!
Nice to see Boram getting some of the spotlight. I'm actually getting accustomed to Soyeon's post surgery look. At first, I was put off by it, but, I do have to admit that she's looking pretty hot these days.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I feel the same. I didn't think she needed it since she's always been my favorite member, but she should have not been promoting while she was recovering from surgery. She's not quite up there where she was during Cry Cry/Lovey Dovey, but at least she still looks good.
Deleteis it just me or are eunjung and hyosung slowly becoming the same person
ReplyDeleteThey look vastly different.
DeleteIt's just you.
DeleteIn case you don't look at their faces, Hyosung has melons, while what Eunjung has aren't classified as melons.
it's just the hair length.
Deleteshe did remind me of Hyosung in No.9 thought, just the eye makeup i guess.
Only just realized this; too bad there's no bar that's run by T-ara.
ReplyDeleteI watch the music shows, and I like the performance of this song because all of the members seem to have a purpose, especially since Qri and Boram have lines. Everyone is hot, and Boram looks better than before. So far, this is my favorite live performance:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIJFhQnw83Y
It looks like they can relax and enjoy themselves, which is good.
Deleteyea im one of the few who likes the ballad more. i'm an r&b fan outside of kpop anyway so im all for the sad songs on a piano.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Eunjung and Qri. Both of them woke up on Thursday morning (which was both of their birthdays) only to find out that "Do You Know Me?" has flopped on both the K-pop Billboard and Gaon charts.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Eunjung, I really hope that her blonde hair is just a temporary thing. She still looks hot (especially in that purple coat), but she looks so much better as a brunette.
Not surprised that they're flopping on the charts. T-ara is one of those groups that I don't actively seek out to listen to, BUT they are probably one of my favorite girl groups to WATCH perform on stage. Their talents translate best through their onstage charisma, attractiveness, facial expressions, etc ... basically a combination of the T-ara visuals combined with a catchy song. The songs alone don't do it for me, but there aren't too many other groups that I look forward to more for show appearances than T-ara.
DeleteWhat are you talking about? The song is #15 in K-pop Billboard and #19 in Gaon Charts.
DeleteEven if it was flopping, why the hell would Qri and Eunjung care? The songs success concerns CCM only. It doesn't affect T-ARA at all.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Delete@ lezkpopfangirl: unfortunately, those are horrible numbers for a group as popular as T-ara.
DeleteNevertheless, "Do You Know Me?" is still a great song (both versions). And it looks like the ladies had a lot of fun making the video. My favourite parts are Hyomin singing/yelling at Jiyeon (probably for showing up late for work), Eunjung singing into the broom, and Soyeon on the balcony making the guys weak in the knees.
I totally disagree.
DeletePoor soyeon was not smiling in the vid.
Check out the behind the scenes as well...
ooh an actual article article... somewhat
ReplyDeleteoh well it suffices.
I liked the song. not bad t-ara.
This song really fucking sucks, but I'll admit its easier on the ears after a few more listens
ReplyDeleteJiyeon's hairstyle which looked hot as fuck in NN looks really fug here and thus makes her unfappable.
Eunjung's hair is shit too but I looks like a lot better in the live performances
I used to not like Hyomin but after seeing that video of her shaking her ass she's really growing on me. Now Soyeon is the only member of T-ARA I don't give a fuck about, a large improvement from when I first got inot the group and my mentality was "Jiyeon > Hwayoung > Rest"
Boram looks the hottest here, but still not as hot as she did in number nine.
Overall ranking out of 10
Song itself = -6
Weird hairstyles = -4
Boram's tits = +10000
Overall = 100010 points out of 10
I doidn't bother to check if my maths is right. I just got off school and my brain is fried.
BORAM's tits ? what .. where???
DeleteThe ballad can go to hell, it's like they gave up on making the thing less shitty and put all their effort on the second one
ReplyDeleteOh and wtf is the title of the song? Hangul says what should I do, but the English title is do u know me
ReplyDeleteThe Korean title is "What Should I do? and the English title is "Do you know me?" Yeah, its confusing. It's a bit like how the Korean title of Rum Pum Pum Pum was First Love/Wisdom.
DeleteThis is one of my favorite T-ara songs. I think Jiyeon and Boram really stood out in it.
ReplyDeleteSong is really good. Not quite a Roly Poly but close. Maybe a Wae Iroeni, it's similar in the sense that the main hook is synth-carried but it's not one of those waaa-waa--waaa-wackawacka synth hooks like in #9, IATB, GS etc that are so trendy these days. Back to the melody which is always a good place for T-ara to be. Plus no shit rap.
ReplyDeleteRelevant video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxRpTIpIIY0
ReplyDeleteAs number 6 of the 10 Boram fans, im happy to see the extra screen time she got this time around.
ReplyDeleteI like the video, ballads cool but that's just judging off the look and sound since Idk what the hell they're saying, main song is vintage T-ara, I fucks with it all day.

As number 7 of the 10 Boram fans, i jizzed when she got a strong and vital part in their new song "Hide and Seek"
DeleteHope she rises furthur... Full Support for her since the start.....
I wish they'd make a separate ballad version of it, the first part is soooooo goooooood.
ReplyDeleteAlso it's really great that Boram is getting such nice parts lately, she can do it.
I think their live stage performances of this song is actually some of their best, it just somehow feels more wholesome or something when they perform it.
The musical-ish thingwhatever they're doing is pretty nice, and seeing Soyeon absolutely dominate the attention from the guys during the dance (as y'know, part of the choreography) is awesome.
Song is a bit odd to listen to though, with the speaking parts but gawd damn I want a full length ballad version of this :l
I think what makes it feel a bit lacklustre compared to the usual T-ara fare is it doesn't really have the vocal hook they normally rely on ("lolly polly, lolly lolly polly"/"lubby dubby dubby, ah ah ah ah"/"bo peep bo peep bo peep repeat ad nauseum"). plus the chorus is delivered in a lower tone than previous stuff, giving it a more relaxed feel.
