Bah Humbug: Is KPop Really on the Decline?

The other day, I was asked this uncharacteristically deep/complex question by an anon from my ask.fm (which is here btw):
Lots of people have been saying kpop is on the decline from 2009-2012. What do you think they mean by that, and do you agree?
I decided to turn it into a full article/editorial because, hey. If Kpoppalypse can do one of these and generate some good commentary and introspective reflection instead of a deadzone of "l0l no1kara", why don't I try?

Warning: Very long and picture/video heavy post ahead, beware!!

Consorting with the Enemy

The funniest thing about SNSD and 2NE1 having comebacks at roughly the same time (aside from the songs themselves, those are fucking jokes too) is the amount of back-and-forth wank that flies about on social media. Few things give me more pleasure than cackling at how crazy these fangirls/boys get over something so trivial as popularity contests or music show wins.

However, it seems like SNSD has taken the edge in this competition so far. You know shit has gotten dire for the Blackjack fandom when their biggest fansite/forum posts tweets like this to rally the troops.

I'm In D-D-D-D-Danger - truth, fiction and f(x)

Fans of f(x) are always complaining about the group getting minimal comebacks and basically being neglected by SM in various ways compared to the label's other flagship groups.  Is it true?  If so, what's the reason for it?  Could things be changed for the better?  I thought it would be fun to explore the answers and possibilities in a fictional story about f(x) fans and their hopes and dreams.

Fangirls and their Idiotic Slut-Shaming

Jessica's recent performance of Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea" sparked up the stupid fangirls to do what they do best: slut-shame. Slut-shaming isn't a new trend amongst the K-Pop community and happens every time a female idol does something that is considered "overtly sexual" by fangirls. There was a lot of slut-shaming going on when After School pole-danced and Girls' Day came out with "Expectation".

As a feminist I can understand where they're coming from. There's no doubt in my mind that women are exploited for the benefit of men in the entertainment industry, but slut-shaming totally goes against what I believe in. You don't just say that an idol is a slut, whore or a porn star just because she's acting sexy on stage or in a music video. That's totally unacceptable, especially since you don't know a thing about that idols personal life to even call her a slut.

Exotics Even Try to Ruin League of Legends

If you didn't know, or you missed my earlier post about League of Legends, the Season 3 World Championships is going on right now. 14 teams are playing for a shot at $1 million dollars ($2.2 million prize pot total).

One of the teams playing is called Mineski, a team from the Philippines (pinoy pride, yadda yadda), and one of their player's gamer tag is "Exo." I think you know where this is going.

Sunday, August 18, 2013

Do EXO have the ability to fix up their own batshit crazy fandom? Of course they do.

"Our school system trains kids to be ignorant, with style - functional ignoramuses.  They do not equip students to deal with things like logic; they don't give them the criteria by which to judge between good and bad in any product or situation.  They are groomed and launched to function as mindless buying machines for the products and concepts of a multinational military-industrial complex that needs a World Of Dumbells to survive." - Frank Zappa, from "The Real Frank Zappa Book".

Relevant part: oh wait these are fangirls, there is no "relevant part"

The GD Instagram "Scandal" -- More Evidence of Fangirls Using Confirmation Bias to Prove Stupid Shit

I had to throw my 2 cents in here because fangirls are getting especially retarded, and with all the traffic hitting this article, I might as well write up a response to it all. That, and I'm fucking pissed at all the idiocy spiraling around this case.

We're Pro-Choice

Some of you may think Antikpopfangirl is a red-blooded Republican-leaning site, but I'll have you know that we're actually quite liberal. Despite evidence to the contrary, we support the fangirls' right to a good dicking because let's face it -- fangirls are people too.

People have needs, and who are we to deny them?

Get it girls. ((Pretty sure the fuck me/cum for me girls are one and the same.))

Taeyeon's Cleavage Scares Me (and SONEs)

Before today, I had no idea that gazing into Taeyeon's cleavage (or lack thereof) was a horrifying experience. We all know she's got the body of a prepubescent girl, so I was kinda surprised her mosquito bites actually had some substance to them.

UMG Blocks KPop Videos, People Lose Their Shit

Today I logged onto my Twitter account (shameless plug @zakubot) and was puzzled to see people agitated over the blocking of music videos on Youtube. Looking for myself, I found out that UMG (aka Universal Music Group) had blocked some KPop music videos from CUBE Entertainment on the grounds of copyright infringement.

Normal enough, but the kicker was that these blocked videos were all from the official artists' pages. The plot thickens when you remember that UMG Korea distributes CUBE's music. DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN....

Fangirls are Truly Truly Truly Embarrassing

North Korea recently dissolved their armistice with South Korea, alarming governments all over the world. We could very well have a reignition of war on the Korean peninsula, but sadly, that could be the last thing on the minds of certain insane fangirls.
With North Korea's threat of war looming over the country, 112 is receiving an explosive number of calls asking what will happen in the event of a war.

On March 14th, the Kyungnam Police revealed that they have been receiving an influx of calls and texts from the 11th through the 13th since North Korea declared the 1953 armistice invalid. They've received a total of 800 texts in total thus far.

The questions range from innocent inquiries like "Is North Korea stronger or is America stronger?" and "Where will North Korea shoot their nuclear weapons?" to pranks like "Will I be drafted as a student soldier in the event of a war?" and "Is our country screwed if we go into war?"

Most noted, however, are questions from teens and elementary/junior high school students who are calling by asking for a certain celebrity to be saved. "Please save our INFINITE oppas first if we go into war."

A representative said, "We've been receiving 300-400 calls a day and we're afraid that it's going to interfere with our work. We're trying to calm everyone but students are spreading groundless rumors that are causing more unrest. The schools need to talk with them about this."

South Korea is practically on the brink of war with North Korea and the first thing on anyone's mind is "OH GOD, NOT THE INFINITE/SHINEE/SUJU/BIG BANG/EXO/2PM/ETC OPPAS" ? And you ask why we rag on fangirls so much.

EDIT: It gets better. Apparently, crazy Inspirits had been calling so much, the police stations began to bitch at Woollim Entertainment to do something about it. This in turn leads us to a tweet from Woollim Entertainment pleading for the fans to shut the fuck up and stop bothering the police.

Translation: Ayo Inspirits, we're gonna need you to calm your fucking titties. Pull shit like this again and we're postponing Infinite's comeback 'til you behave.

Dance group Black Queen to make their official K-pop debut, proves what we already know

If you've never surfed through YouTube looking for some fan's dance covers to laugh at, then you've probably never came across BLACK QUEEN's . I must addmit that i consider them to be pretty badass, in comparison with their counterpart, Waveya, who're there just for the boners.

4 Secret Minutes of Drama

The thing about music is that everything builds on something else. It takes influences from things we've done, things we've seen, things only we have experienced in our own unique way and smushes it all together to make a brand new sound. It's only a natural process of creativity, especially in the pop market.

So when 4nias try to start shit with SECRET over their Poison comeback, all I can do is laugh.

I hate using Tumblr gifs...

Gangnam Style Breaks 85 Million Views, Buttmad Ensues

Proving that PSY's Gangnam Style wasn't just a passing fancy, his official MV has just recently broken the 83 million views record held by SNSD's Gee as the most watched KPop video on Youtubes.

And SONEs are not pleased.

Even Seobot had to boot up rage.exe for this one.
This shit writes itself, so I'll let my screencaps do most of the talking. LOL

T-ara Witch Hunt Goes Full Retard

T-ara's Soyeon has just gotten into a car accident while on the way to film for Haeundae Lovers. Thankfully she and all the other passengers are more or less in one piece, but that's not the reason for this article.

No, once again we come to the primary instigators of the whole T-ara "scandal" in the first place -- the random netizens chiming in on the issue.

Brits React To 2NE1

As you may have heard by now, 2NE1 recently got some air time on British radio. Unofficially debuting on BBC Radio 1, the biggest radio station in the country, 2NE1 was introduced via their latest track I Love You.

Some will have you believe that it was all sunshine and that Britannia is the new stronghold for Blackjack sentiment, but the actual response was less than forthcoming.

Fans Install CCTV for Yoochun, Completely Misunderstood

In the latest bout of sensationalist and skewed reporting to emerge from Korean forums, JYJ stans have once again been portrayed in an entirely unfair and negative light.

F.U.T.U.R.E. 2.N.E.1.

"What's good, niggaaaaaaaz?"

YG suddenly came way outta left field with a surprise upload of some female trainee footage. Like anything female that comes out of YG these days, it was met with a surprising amount of hate and vitriol from the rabid Blackjack legions. Why, you ask?

Let's All Blame Diablo3 for Turning U-Kiss into Beggar-dols

Diablo3 recently came out, and everyone is in a frenzy to get a copy of their own to get online and start kicking ass. We're crazy for it, Koreans are crazy for it, and KPop idols are no less crazy for it.

U-Kiss, in typical "We can't catch a fucking break" U-Kiss fashion, got the shaft for it though.
