B.A.P. goes aegyo, can't help but ask why

Remember everything that made B.A.P. remotely special? Well, it's gone

It has already been proved that Babies are really hardcore but receiving this video with legitimate joy is way over my expectations.
I mean, really.

How is THAT even close to be hipster related.

Why waste a perfect debut (talking about presence, not quality) like "Warrior" and threw it away with this shitty concept?
Sadly, B.A.P. is just another rookie that adds itself in the "Missing identities - aegyo ver. " list.
You can count in this party, among others, Pledis Entertainement's first attempt to a boy band, Nu'Est, who debuted early this year with "Face", making a -relative- considerable splash (though i attribute this success to Ren's existence). Their latest releases, to my disappointment, were as cheesy as forgettable.

She'z fell in this very same category when they presented "UU", song that i consider a 1000 billion steps regression considering their first work, "My Way".

This is the point where i ask myself: what the fuck is wrong with their management?
"Hey let's produce a new group that actually makes it in this overly saturated market and then we can sell them as mainstream as shit" Yeah, i don't get it.

If creating a fanbase using a -somewhat- unique approach to then expand said fanbase through commonalities is more lucrative than continuing opening a path exploiting the first style, then this guys manage some data i ignore, because i completely lost interest in their groups.
Fuck them all, i'll stick to Crayon Pop.

  1. This group excites my nether regions like no other at present so what I am about to say may be extremely biased but . . .

As much as fierce B.A.P. was boss they also need to make that money to pay TS back for that big ass spaceship in the Power MV. While their tough image might go over great with fanboys and international Babyz (what an embarrassing fandom name) that image can only get them so far in SK. They need to cater to Korean fans because without them they are nothing. Koreans aren't into manly men. This is evident in the irrelevancy of groups like Block B and Dalmatian. Big Bang didn't make it big until they ditched the black appropriation threw on some skinny jeans and started singing "AMSOSAWRRYBUDILUBYOU" I could argue that 2PM are popular but them kiggas wear more eye make-up than all female idols combined.

Even the frigging bosses of all idol groups, H.O.T, had to make the Korean public happy every once in a while by dressing up like gangsta Teletubbies. Aegyo is such a huge factor in the SK idol world that you really can't avoid it.

I'm sure B.A.P. will be back with another bad ass song later. Then people can go back to saying all their fucking songs sound the same instead of saying they've sold out. These boys are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

    1. inb4 all their next releases are similar sounding aegyo-sellouts

    2. i guess part of the reason for the 'damned if they do, damned if they don't comments' is due to the fact that this group tends to oscillate between two extremes i.e. from ultra aggressive (stomping, chanting, whistles) to ultra cute and that can be confusing. Like there's no middle ground for them to express their musicality as a group esp since at least one member actually has a bit of creative control. And btw this group isn't that much more relevant than anyone else (except the really established idol groups like dbsk) because outside of the respective fandoms, no one really cares about idol groups in korea.

    3. Personally im just kinda disappointed that they are one of the few groups that actually began to look convincing (ie not so try-hard)with their aggressiveness when they decide to make an extreme change to full-on aegyo and that threw me off quite a bit. It's ok to change to something a lot less aggressive, perhaps a happy-go-lucky kind of song, rnb, or just toning down the electric guitar elements would have been alright. The cute act just looks even less sincere and doesn't seem to reflect the musical inclinations of the group, esp since they've mentioned that they all love hip hop and that BYG even aims to bring that genre closer to the public. So I don't see how that's supposed to happen when pretty much none of their recent tracks has any decent rap/hip hop elements in it.

    4. "Koreans aren't into manly men"

Or rather, Korean teen fangirls aren't into manly men, or at least have a fucked up definition of what 'manly men' are - ran into a few K-ELF teens a while back and they actually claimed that fags like Shitteuk, MonkeyHyuk and even Ryeowook as 'manly'.

On the other side of the coin, lot of Koreans still see doing mandatory military service as a path of becoming 'manly men' or at least being less of a faggot.

    5. People think Teuk, Hyuk and Wook are 'manly' because they have abs; the same way that anything is supposedly 'sexy' because some idiot is in front of a camera with minimal clothing on (this is probably one of the most annoying 'concepts' in k-pop. All I see 95% of the time is some teenager with no clue whatsoever humping the air and it doesn't make me feel anything).

(although I would argue that personality-wise, I find Eunhyun quite manly, if a bit annoying and misogynistic)

  2. It's the same with almost every kpop groups =.=
Spica, Girl's Day after Nothing last forever (i like twinkle and hug me once but seriously, it's just too much =.=!)
Kpop's all about aegyo and crazy fangirl lol like B1A4 and Block-B, they debuted around the same time and Block-B is still struggling a lot

    1. Block b isn't in the struggling phase anymore; for one their fanclub numbers are sufficiently big, in the top 15 or something like that. but yes, definitely B1A4 is more popular but then I also get the feeling that groups that focus a lot on cuteness tend to rise quickly but get phased out pretty quick too...

    2. Block B have three of the best mini-albums I've heard in years and "Nililli Mambo" is the closest thing to an original MV concept I've seen in a very long time. Zico is the most legit idol rapper. It's too bad that their CEO pissed off VIPs and they recently pissed off Nichkhunt's army of fucktards. The amount of hatred this group gets is disgusting. You would think they committed manslaughter, drove under the influence, or were recorded beating up their fans.

    4. I still can't get all the hype about B1A4 and their jum jum heart like a locket, wtf is that?
Block-B is one of my favorite group, they caught my eyes since their debut. Damn that Zico's hot. And the scandal could never happened without the help of Nichkhun, that fuckin' douchebag

All the more reason why this blog exists to expose and mock those VIPs and army of fucktards.

    8. dont need to love block b to be cool.

  4. I think it's only expected that they'd take the aegyo route after the Warrior, Power, No Mercy trilogy. Even after their 190827830 comebacks, they're still a rookie group, so hopefully they'll do something a bit less... on the edge of either side of the spectrum.

That being said, I hope I'm not the only one who actually likes Crayon Pop.

  5. The whole aegyo innocent borderline, puritan concepts, are safe bet, and safe bets usually breaks even. The controversial ones create attention, both good AND bad.
Set up a venn diagram, and you'll see the most common concept that overlap, is cute concepts. It casts a much wider net, including the traditionalists or similarly closed-minded, and despite it's westernization, Korea still holds on to many of its conservative values, and culture just so happens to be widespread, so you'll find a lot more people that'll accept a cute concept (including open-minded people) than those who actively shun it, as opposed to a consistent controversial one. You have to remember that you as an "anti fangirl", are in the minority. They appeal, where there's money; the majority.
Blame the demand, not the supplier.

TL;DR They're making money. Less that they could, had they pursued edgy ideas.

    1. I don't mind cute concepts for girl groups, in fact, I actually like them. For boy bands on the other hand, I just feel sorry for them. They probably feel like total faggots after every performance and wonder why they signed up for that shit.

    2. I must be one of the few Koreans that hates or cringes at cute concepts then. At least depending on the age of members of the idol groups anyway.

Anyone remember the Japanese version of Oh? Goddamnit, they're in their early 20s and whole thing looked fucking forced >__>

    3. Nothing is better than the socially masochistic guys that let themselves be boy-toys for the companies' ridiculous concepts. Remember back when Taemin got dressed up as a girl?
      http://www.jpopasia.com/i1/news/4/11978-dfcu7ra9xg.jpg
"too aegyo" was a line that had already been passed, shit on, and nuked by kpop.

    4. If I was in a boy band, I can never see myself being cute.

      Im gansta nigga!!!!

    5. regarding Shinee, and mainly Taemin being dressed as a girl. The stylist for that album got death threats and congratulatory comments for that. Mostly death threats because of him making Taemin a bitch ass faggot.

    6. I'm just waiting for the day that Taemin breaks and goes "NAH NIGGAS YOU DRESS LIKE GIRL! FUQ YOU GUISE!"

  6. I was appalled at how fucking AEGYO this shit of an MV was. Believe me I'm a HUGE fan of B.A.P since debut but once TS started with the "cute" MVs I wanted to punch everyone in the face! So frustrating seeing them go from really good debut to "let me AEGYO you"! Why would you do that? I mean if B.A.P would have debuted with the cute concept and gone to the sexy concept through the months (years) I'd be fine but no it was the opposite~! TS YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. BTW I fucking hate the fanclub name too. Baby...UGH every time they say "BABY Fans" I cringe and want to flip TABLES. Hate the song, hate the MV, hate the fanclub name.

  7. Why did She'z have to go to the cute route? Their natural look and above average singing abilities were slowly getting noticed with "My Way" followed by "Night and Day".

"UU" actualy charted lower than "My Way" on GAON even at it's peak. "My Way" broke Top 100 at least. These girls deserve better and I hope that they don't get lost among the rookies this year. They show too much promise to be wasted like this.

Did B.A.P really need to go the cute route? I thought they were doing well with their admittedly repetitive concept of "Toughness". This cheapens the impact of their image.

    1. the tough thing was getting super repetitive but idk i hate this cute thing so much more; they should just not have a comeback until they have a decent song in their head instead of flooding us with bullshit.

    2. Warrior was great, Power was ok, after that, their songs just sound the same to me. I agree that they should just stay at home, practicing a great thing rather than do a comeback every month with some shitty song

    1. They looked like their van crashed into a strawberry ice cream truck on the way to the show.

If I ever saw their stylist it's earrings off and knuckles up. They way she dresses them should be classified as a form of abuse.

I'll take "cold bibimB.A.P." if it means Jong Up can have more lines. All their previous songs are Bang and Zelo featuring Daehyun . . . and those other three.

      Delete
    2. Jongup is the best looking he needs more camera time tbh.
and yeah BAP is basically Bang & Zelo + Daehyun and occasionally Youngjae; Himchan and Jongup have zero anything

    3. i hate their stylish, yong guk look like he having pain in ass when he wear that. yeah jong up should get more air time. they should stop make a comeback n rest, then should make a better comeback. they only rest like 1 month. stop mking gay TS

  10. am i the only one here who like BAP aegyo concept? you know, showing different sides of them and all. they've been doing the stomping, kicking dirt all the time before Crash. plus they still have the boyish charm, not annoyingly cute like B1A4. ugh i can't stand the specky, long haired dude. but i agree with She'z. so disappointing.

  11. well it can be worse, when I first saw them I think wtf why everybody blonde but after watch their debut song and concept was AMAZING, their manly concept is limited for korean teenagers so I dont suprise...still not a boyfriend aegyo level(I can punch their cute fuckin face)

  12. Doh! I can only listening to their debut song.
Other song sounds alike another kpop song. Just average.

  15. This comeback was a fucking train wreck. I, too, was expecting something "badass", the teasers implied it also. The release made me cringe hard, couldn't bring myself to finish the shitty video with the vomit inducing cute expressions and retarded song. Fucking horrible.

  16. mmh I like it, I like gay concept, that's why i'm in kpop, boys with boys , boys aegyo. i'm all for it.

  17. I think k-pop groups including B.A.P can do whatever they wants, like come on it their decision not ours.

  18. I think they did it to attract kpop fans that are more into SM stuff, cute flower boys and all that shit. The song was good if you judge it in a certain POV (But wtf is Zelo wearing).
But what annoys me the most is that the fucking Teaser showed BADASS HOT LOOKING GUYS and you know what I got? NOTBADASS EFFIN' FLOWERBOYS OMG!
Why TS why?! Stop giving such fake hopes and give us what we expected!!!!! I WANTED BAD ASS HALF NAKED YONGGUK ARGH!

  20. Err.. I love B.A.P from their debut song, Warrior, but Power and No Mercy didn't really impress me. It's Crash that made me pay attention to them again. Stop It, the song itself is addicting, but I'm afraid I have to say a big NO to the MV. It really looks so cheap, urgh.

But I'll still wait for their badass comeback though. Very much. Just give it to me, dammit!!!
And give some more lines to Jongup and Himchan, TS!!!!
