[MV Review] Baek Ah Yeon - Sad Song

The first contestant from Kpop Star to debut is Baek Ah Yeon. She joined JY PEEEEEEEEEEEEE and got to debut solo. Park Ji Min, who won Kpop Star, also signed with JY PEEEEEEEEEEEEE but some fans are wondering why Park Ji Min is debuting in a duo and not solo while Baek Ah Yeon got to debut solo. Who knows, and honestly, I really don't care. It's not like Park Ji Min is going to debut with Sohee or Hara, so I think people are worrying too much.

This MV is the dream of an Afghan girl in a coma. You don't believe me? Watch as I pull shit out of my ass and try to paint this MV as having a lot of symbolism while trying to persuade you it's not all bullshit because I couldn't think of how to review this MV properly.

There's a lot of explosions and the repeated scenes of the TV blowing up. The boyfriend also crumbles at the end, symbolizing that he died. So how does the story go? The Afghan girl and boy are dating and stole a TV from Al-Qaeda. They hooked the TV up and were trying to watch their first TV show together, but bullets come through the wall and TV, destroying it. Moments later, bombs drop down from the sky and the boyfriend gets hit.

So what about the rest of the scenes? First, the girl is now in a coma. She was a Kpop fan and envisioned herself and her boyfriend in Korea (and being Korean.) All of those explosions remind her how her boyfriend met her demise.

Oh yeah, I should probably mention the song. I liked it. I like how they added the guitar into the song instead of having just a piano carry the ballad. Baek Ah Yeon sings well, or else she wouldn't have finished third on Kpop Star. I think she has a bright future, unless she gets really popular and JYP decides to send her to America for three years and have Korea forget about her.

  2. I'd like to see bin Laden try wage jihad while his body's rotting in the depths of the seas. On the other hand, song was great.

  3. Sound like I entered a time machine back to the 90's! YAAAAAA- Oh... Shit no. IT'S THE LATER HALF OF THE 90's!! ABORT!
Reminds me Celine Dion's sleeper "hits". However, I do commend the producer for making some interesting transitions throughout the song. Credit where credit is due.

  4. She reminds me of Sohee (not a good thing), but regardless, it's still a good song.
