Saturday Shitfest #4

So 4minute released a new song and I'm afraid to even listen to it after "What's Your Name?" Well, at least A Pink is making a comeback soon, so Cube is giving us a slight refuge while they torture us with 4minute.

Anyway, expect some actual articles next week instead of all of these lazy articles. I have some MV reviews almost done and an album review almost done, which all should be up next week.

  1. Is it Poppin' is slightly better than What's Your Name. Like, BB seems to have had an allergic reaction to bass or using a compressor or something, because the song feels so empty. The video is the typical club scene vid with a bunch of people dancing to what I assume is the song (you can never be sure sometimes >_>), but it's a hell of a lot better than What's Your Name. They toned down the flashy aesthetics, and it works.

    1. I second this, is it poppin is, to me, better than whatchoname. That one fucking synth, the one that goes boop boop beep boop (it's also there in whatchoname), is so fucking annoying.

And yes, only the opening feels like a song, the rest felt so bare.

    2. and the go go going crazy at the beginning, ugh.

    3. And as I said earlier. They nerfed Hyuna's sexiness.

  3. IIP still has those fuckin' annoying sound effects that were just overkill in WYN? but they've been turned down in the mix somewhat so it's a bit more pleasant to listen to, but on the other hand it's also fairly bland musically generally speaking. It ain't no Volume Up. How 4Minute are doing so well at the moment with the worst music of their career so far I dunno.

  6. Huh is actually pretty much their best song. Come on son. Also 4minute are doing pretty well this year, I'm digging "Is It Poppin'." We all know "What's Your Name" did really well digitally.

Also, Hyuna looks FINE AS FUCK IN THE LATEST MV. Goddamn, she's so fucking nasty.

  7. Crayon pop's bbabbabba is one of the most cringing song in my life, both the song wise and MV, I don't understand how can anyone like it without cringing a little.

Been liking Eru lately, guy has legit vocals and actually is good looking. Is he known in Korea? I almost had never heard of him until he made a song with an Indonesian comedian.

    1. Just started watching it last week and i love it.

    2. I haven't watched it since episode 10 where (iirc) the entire episode was basically filler, although I'll probably catch up soon. it's overhyped, but it definitely has its merits unlike a certain SAO. ain't no Bakemonogatari though.

    3. I liked the first 5-6 episodes. The action, the atmosphere, the world itself are fascinating. However, the characters are bland and the plot has major pacing issues, which made me drop it. I'm sure the manga is better since 3-5 minutes worth of reading material isn't stretched into 22 minutes.

      Delete
    4. Ya, the past two eps been frustatingly slow, is it going to take 5 eps to pick up a rock?! Damnit. first 9 eps made me jizzed tho

      Delete
    5. The Anime takes things at very slow pace, building suspense. Every 5 minutes there is unnecessary talking that lasts 10 minutes. It Also mixes up the order of scenerios apart from the Manga. The Manga contains a significant amount of more answered secrets so I would highly suggest reading it instead of watching the Anime. Plus you won't have to wait week after week for things that already happened in the Manga.
LST: Read the Manga it is Good.

    6. Up to date here on both the manga and anime (first) having marathoned both. The anime tended to be chronological with small flashbacks while the manga went straight to mayhem. That lack of character development lent little in the way of terror. For me, the anime wreaked my mind with the loss and horror. I would have fully believed Isayama, the author, "Kamina'd" Eren sort've like the first episode of Ga Rei: Zero. The 'twist', so to speak, was delivered rather capably in the anime over its comic counterpart.

Death heightens shockingly after you've identified with the character a bit. The manga opens the front door to the butcher shop whereas the anime takes you thru the back. It gave a much more radical experience watching Eren getting nipped off at the knee in glorifying detail than staring at panels however well done. 5 stars japanime. 4 stars manga.

  9. I just hope that one day-before I become too busy to have time for KPOP- 4MINUTE will release a song like HUH or I, My, Me, Mine.

  10. BAP's Coffee Shop was a fucking snoozefest. I swear, my eyelids were slowly closing when I got half way through the song. Babyz are saying it's "refreshing" and "calm", but I really can't believe them.

    ReplyDelete

    1. BAP are best when they're doing their faux hip-hop/metal hybrid, they should just stick to that and leave the One Direction-ish mid-paced "we're nice guys really" thing alone.

      Delete
    2. was that an mv or an ad to travel to america

      Delete
    3. I want B.A.P do so cring-worthy-and-vomit-inducing-cute "concept" (for the luls) so that even Babiez didn't like that and didn't forget that B.A.P is mainly HEP-HAP group.

      Delete
    4. I agree that BAP are at their best when they do the badass concept, but I've actually liked all the songs have deviated from that. Stop It was '90s crack (TS Entertainment was definitely trolling the mess out of us with that aegyo laden video) and while I don't think Rain Sound was amazing, I give them an A for effort (but that video wasn't a troll, it was just bad; like, I've never seen forced emotion look so horrible XD). I still don't know how I feel about Coffee Shop, because I'm really half and half with the song. I honestly wonder if their agency does so many extreme concept shifts because they wanna prove that BAP really live up to their name or something >_<

      Delete
    5. Power was cringe-worthy and the Engrish annoyed the heck out of me. That was the only release I didn't like until Coffee Shop came.

  12. Is it Poppin' sucks almost like WYN, then again WYN is still unbeatable in terms of cringe worthiness.

    3. Well duh, but the idea that CL is a good rapper is like saying Big Shawn knows how to rap.

No "pop" music has good rap. And "F(x)" is really shitty. I think they're waiting for amber's evidence of PS to disappear with her "new look". She hasn't been seen since April...

That'll make all of them drop dead on site XD

    3. i heard once that the only reason only13 accept kyuhyun is because he 'paid' for joining late by very nearly dying. i think that was when i began to stop standing up for the fandom even occasionally.
tbh all the members that sm has added after sj'05 have only added talent to the group; it's members like heechul (who has on several occasions mentioned how he doesn't want to be a singer and is basically tired of it), teuk, shindong etc who were put in the group to 'graduate' and become comedians that are the dead weight

      Delete
    4. "i heard once that the only reason only13 accept kyuhyun is because he 'paid' for joining late by very nearly dying." No this actually happened. He almost got in a car crash and died so they stopped hating on him... He spent 4 fucking days in a coma with a 20% chance to live before the Only12 fangirls (at the time) accepted him.

  17. For me: Volume Up > Is It Poppin' > Huh > Whatchoname (I only know these things of 4Minute)
I liked sounds of tinkler(?) in the background in Is It Poppin'. They made Hyuna look good-sexy, but not slutty sexy(?).

Crayon Pop, please don't go sexy. It can make them more popular, though. :/ Their latest song is strangely stuck in my head.

  18. Have you ever wondered what Kpop would be like if all Idol rappers had to be mentored and approved by real hip-hop artists (like Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Nappy Roots, Method Man, etc.) before they could debut? What a world it would be...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Who gets to decide what's a "real" hip-hop artist though. Now there's a can of worms.

      Delete
    2. but then who would be the dancers and the visuals and the useless members that we love?

why listen to pop at all if you're looking for quality

      Delete
    3. @Kpopalypse: It's honestly REALLY easy to tell. True Hip-hop at it's root is storytelling, and is about something important, whether it be social commentary (see Brother Ali's "Uncle Sam Goddamn") or taking time to really enjoy life and it's little gifts (Atmosphere's "Sunshine") with a dash of partying, NOT just "get high, fuck bitches, blow through mah dough". I guess, in a nutshell, true hip-hop is about balance, and having a good time while still having a message.

@Xiss: They'd still be there, I was only talking about the members toted as being "rappers". Tbh I don't listen to pop for quality, I listen to it for mindless background noise, it was just a thought that popped into my head. :P

  19. Here ladies and gentleman I am to share with you an other piece of shit that will make you ears bleed like wolf and 80% of songs this years did.
apparently TRAX former member called Noh minwhoo (who also an actor, see my girlfriend is gomiho). he is hot as fuck (yeah have to admit this though) but unfortunatly his "prettiness" didnt help the song.
anyway, back to the topic.so his band is supposed to be doing rock songs.and their debut song is called "rockster" *cough* i mean "rock star".
if after watching this, u still couldnt notice that Minwoo is trying so hard to be pull a MIYAVI then u must be blind.

    1. Is it weird that I can tell this dude used to be an SM idol? Like, There's just something about him that screams their flavor of manufactured...

Anyway, the song isn't all that bad, but it's kind of forgettable. The worst part about it is that Noh Min-woo is trying way too hard to be creditable. He's trying to shed the idol label and he's going about it in all the wrong ways. Also, someone should tell him that making pop music isn't going to make you a rock star. It makes you a pop star XD

    2. Yes he was an SM idol.
