Long time no see.
I hope everyone's summer is going well.
I have been easing into the Korean music scene once again and decided to share with you two of the songs that have been on my playlist for the past few days on repeat.
Forgive me. I could not find a good uploaded version. All of the YouTube ones are chipmunk'd due to copyright rules.
Still a fan of Epik High - YG influenced or not. But damn, Mithra lost a lot of weight.
Always nice to see Verbal Jint. Although, I have no idea why they needed to credit Kahi for the narration. Her lines are literally the bare minimum for a girl's voice in a hip hop song by men. Just seems silly to credit her (as much as I love her). She literally had, like, two lines!
Also, I sing this song out loud pretty often. I did not realize that this was a seduction song. I now have to have an awkward chat with my male Korean friend who said I was sending mixed signals.
Hope you enjoy them even half as much as me.
Premise:
I know that I already have two other (relatively) consistent weekly features (Questions of the Week and Stupid Things Fangirls Utter), but I was thinking of making another one. Just a trial. Let's see how you guys like it. It, of course, is subject to change or disappear. Depending.
Since Korean music is in general very catchy, I find myself addicted to songs constantly, leaving them on replay for days hours on end. So I thought I would share some of the many songs that I have been addicted to lately.
The whole point of this article is
just to share music with each other. This is in no way one of our funny
or trolling articles. I notice often in the chatroom (up top), many of
us are telling each other what are good songs and which artists to listen to.
So I felt that maybe posting them in the comment section below on an article would
make it easier to navigate whose recommendations you trust. They can be
old or new songs. Like I really care.
Feel free to post the song stuck in your head at this moment. You don't have to post your entire
Top 25 play list right now either. These articles will pop up
frequently, so you can share one song at a time.
when I finished your post the first song come in my mind is infinite the chaser i love it and I hope you like too
ReplyDeleteholy fuckfgnog sHIT i will never get sick of that song
DeleteThat is a Good Song... Oh my Ssul.
DeleteI so love that song too. I like Infinite's songs in general, 'cos many of them include trampet.
DeleteThat's like, the best Infinite song by far.
DeleteOMGGGGG I'm not the only one /thanks the holy gods of kpop/
DeleteIts the top most played song on my itunes and I can never get tired. I just haven't heard of anyone who felt the same way.
Mmm... Two of the many K-Pop songs that's been on repeat for a fair while on my player now are 2PM's "A.D.T.O.Y." and their "Come Back When You Hear This Song" Real catchy music and I like the lyrics, too.
ReplyDeleteGotta thank AKF for introducing me to Baechigi, I checked out some of their past songs and was very impressed. I find myself replaying "Are You Happy" from their Vol 4 Part 2 album a lot. I think it's been posted here before but everyone should check em out.
ReplyDeleteI knew about Baechigi when the song "Two Mari" was out.
DeleteNo 3 is Baechigi's jjangbakest song imo.

I am disappointed, I thought you knew better than this.
ReplyDeleteThen show me what is better. I honestly have been barely easing back into the Korean music scene. I don't know anything here anymore. It's like waking up in a whole new world =/
DeleteYou are just in luck, since Hi-Lite's new bumping album came out.

ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXUehm6hwTI
Sunny hill's 'darling of all hearts'
ReplyDeleteT-ara's nose-yeon + whatever's 'painkiller'
Yoseob plus some chick 'love day' (old song I know)
Lee seung chul - my love. (I wish I know this guy earlier)
Love day features Beast's Yoseob, and Eunji from Apink...omg can't believe I actually know this
Deletesan-e's i hope you're unhappy
ReplyDeleteand jay park's joah. i hated this one when it had just released cause him and BTOB released cutesy shit around the same time and they're two artists i don't expect to do stuff like that but this one really grew on me
"I Wish You to be Unhappy" is probably San-E's best song, yeah.
Deletealso been listening to bangtan's 좋아요. as much as i am embarrassed of the name rap monster, he has a calmish voice that's like bang yongguk minus the cigarettes.
DeleteVerbal Jint is Good but "비범벅" is one of his most Basic songs I have ever Heard. Takers "너란 독" is Good. So f(x)'s "Beautiful Goodbye". Lastly, I HEAVY FLOW recommend Crucial Star's "생각보다".
ReplyDeleteOmigosh - Crucial Star's mini album "Fall" has like, 4 of my favourite songs. And yes, "I'm OK" is one of them, too.
DeleteThanks for sharing the good music, this shits good.
ReplyDeleteI've been jamming to Hyuna and the 4minutes a lot. What A Girl Wants is the best ever. Don't judge.
ReplyDeleteRecently I was listening a lot to Neon Bunny's "Oh, My Prince" and Gaeko's "Life is Rhythm"
ReplyDeleteSe7en - Digital Bounce and Somebody Else
ReplyDeleteRIP Se7en's career. :(
RIP in peace
DeleteSecret's Yoohoo because my friend got me into it by replaying it countless of times, and also because I happen to like Secret's cute concepts.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Verbal Jint and Sanchez's You Deserve Better is awesome. Gotta thank you guys for introducing me to Bumkey because I've been replaying Bad Girl for hours now.
Guess my idea of what's memorable is kinda different...I like Nell and some of their songs are on repeat in my head all the time.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't yell -IGAB just won't leave my head for some reason...maybe cos Yuri's too pretty. Lol. Irrelevant point.
And yeah, I think this'll make an awesome permanent column. More fun than QoTW imho.
DeleteBut- but- "Question of the Week" weas the first weekly feature of this site!
DeleteOh well. I am running out of questions anyways. They will be pretty sporadic posts - along with STFU's and these "Song of the Day"s.
LeeSSang - you're the answer to a guy like me
ReplyDelete- tears
This series is a good idea. Since most of the A/B-list groups have turned to shit musically in 2013 I need to dig deeper to get some decent music and this will help. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAh come on
DeleteAfter School are crying strippers, Dal Shabet are going "look at my camel toe, please raep me" and Girls Day are crackwhores who sleep with ugly 90s idols
it's the golden age of KPop
not to mention T-ara replacing the late Soyeon with someone else and going "no no, she just had plastic surgery, honest".
DeleteGood times
Oh don't misunderstand I approve of where k-pop is going ideologically. It's just that the latest batch of videos are mostly better with the sound down.
DeleteFuck everything you're listening to. Clazziquai x Nakata Yasutaka
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6CgKc2-7Ww
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2g1x9f7bGM - Sunggyu (Infinite) - Getting Further (original by Nell)
ReplyDeleteThis song has been stuck in my head for weeks. I love Nell and I loved the original but there's something about Sunggyu's voice that gives a new feeling to the song. Also, call me crazy but I like the little breaths he takes while singing.
10cm - Give me a hug ( these guys are amazing, definitely worth a listen )
Infinite - The Chaser
Nell - Perfect
Too embarassed to admit that I keep listening to Seeya's My Heart is Touched.. oops.
Deletei love all of these songs :oooo
DeleteYeah.. I'm awesome like that
DeleteWHY DOES NO ONE REMEMBER MY "NUGUS YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO" COLUMN?!
ReplyDeleteBecause "Song of the Day"s came first! mwahaha
DeleteNYSLT was better. Sorry Shiny, but at least Zaku came up with something more interesting than Phantom's 미역국.
DeleteI really adore Lim Kim/Kim Yerim right now, a lot of people said Allright was too repetitive for them but I actually adored it and it's repetitiveness(aside from the randomass autotuned guy in it). It kinda reminded me of britpop or Marina and The Diamonds or something and was great. The whole album is great though really. Also since you're Shinbi and will probably dissappear I feel I should take the chance and add that Game Over by 2pm may be literally the only song by them I like which takes a lot of effort for me it sounds like a movie or something awesome in a song
ReplyDeleteYes, I was hoping for someone to mention Kim Yerim here. When I first heard her sing in Shut Up! Flower Boy Band I thought she sounded weird but she does have a very unique voice. Her new album is amazing and she was on Superstar K3 long time ago.

DeleteYou know me well, Rylee. =')
DeleteProbably too well. (I lurk a bit) don't run away from your fishies this time we aren't as bad as we seem
Delete(And dang, I haven't seen Flower Boy Band but I was considering it because of her/the rest of the Flower Boy series being good)
It's actually one of the best dramas I have ever watched, definitely different from the regular cutesy k-series. It has bromance, music and Lee Min Ki and Sung Joon in the cast. =)
DeleteDoesn't Lee Min Ki get killed off after a couple episodes though? Idek if I'm willing to try to watch another kdrama right now because they either suck or they end and leave me feeling empty as to what to do now tbh
DeleteWell, I don't want to give you spoilers but.. yeah, he dies. Idk about this drama, it might leave you "feeling empty" but I think it's worth the watch. Imho it goes straight to the top, next to Reply 1997. Plus, there aren't many stoned Kim-Hyun-Joong-like actors in this, except for the female lead. Btw, I didn't know there was a Flower Boy series.
DeleteSaltnpaper anyone? Eventhough people keep on gushing over Lovestrong which was featuring Tablo, I still love Heart Storm the best. Now... if only my Googling skills are better and it's easier for me to find the english Trans :/
ReplyDeleteHELL YEAH!Love his voice! Well...admittedly, I only like some of the songs on his album since I prefer his MYK stuff more. Was replaying his & Shirosky's collab album for a month! (http://cultclassicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/adaptation) If you get Nanjang (MBC America if you're in the US), you might be able to find it subbed.
DeleteIf you happen to like Shirosky style of music, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QTUanvxCyw
Been listening on replay: Eluphant's Star Candy (ft BumKey) and uBeat's Should Have Treated You Better.
But previously:
*But previously: Oneway's She'll Never Know. Whatever happened to them? Don't really seem to hear much about them these days...
Deletecan i like just hug you and never let go
Deletebeen such a long time that i've heard stuff like this. can you recommend more albums/artists like these? or where i can download this as a sample? i'm still waiting for oneway to regroup and release something epic because it's not fair for us to keep waiting while they produce good materials for other groups.... /selfish/
Umm...from what I can remember, maybe give Re:Plus a try? One of the latest albums I checked out was Relax & Smooth (which was okay) but apparently he came out with another one last month. There's a lot of stuff that not only he does but I think compilations as well with other artists (In Ya Mellow Tone series); you can branch out from there. MYK was featured on one of with Pe2ny in the In Ya Mellow Tone 7. I really liked the Everlasting Truth album but it's a little different.
DeleteHere's some to try out:

LOL since I think I've deviated quite a bit from Korean music, here's two Korean artists (both of which were part of the Mint Paper Festival (which included 10cm, Standing Egg, Dear Cloud, Daybreak, etc ;D):
-Jung Gi Go

If you're talking about a sample of Shirosky's Walking In the Rain: http://www.openmic.co.kr/openmic/competition_54_shirosky.html (click on the link next to the WinAmp looking logo). Really? I didn't know they were producing some stuff for other groups. What are some recent songs they produced?
i went from kuan -> shirosky -> nujabes -> paloalto XDDD also found something from katraven (?) and omg i should stop trawling the mighty www for tonight :Db
Deleteits kpop stuff, oneway produced, donghae's i wanna love you (?), some for b1a4 and mblaq (tho i don't know exactly which song)... but their latest song beautiful day is an excellent indication for what we might expect to get once they drop something as a group :)
eAeon - Bulletproof
ReplyDeleteThe song kills my heart everytime I play it but its just so addictive.
Continue to share this gems coz I don't really follow kpop in general just some groups and some songs anything that takes my fancy really. :)
