The end.
All jokes aside, this MV is indeed that boring. It's just your standard lighthearted tsundere girl-stalks-guy rom-com-esque storyline. No seriously.
Girl's got it bad. But stalking eventually turns to hope for fangirls all over the world that no matter how unfortunate your looks may be, you still have a chance with the oppa of your dreams. The sister half of Akdong Musician climbs her way out of the friend zone, and it looks as if she's finally made it to the promised land. Just barely one
I really enjoyed that unfolding effect though, ngl. |

All jokes aside (again), I really did NOT enjoy that sing talky rap shiet at the beginning. I was under the impression that Akdong Musician was a brother-sister singing duo, so that rap was really jarring. I dunno, it felt like someone was trying to force some magic to happen where it was clearly not clicking. I will give credit where credit is due, though. I like the sister's vocal color, it's very clear and resonant. Whoever mixed this track did a damn good job of it. The brother's voice kinda sounds like what Jay Park would if he could carry a tune, or maybe I'm just imagining things.
The full effect of the song is not that special. I mean sure, it's okay if you like this kind of thing. Yes, it's not as bad as Busker Busker, but it's still pretty damn boring. I just don't get the appeal.
TL;DR: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
+:
- the foldy third-wheel reveal montage was kinda cool
-:
- song's boring
- MV's boring
- wasted yandere potential
- wtf are they wearing?
- poor things should have known what was in store when they signed that contract
I give it 2's out of 5.
Seriously, that rap-like thing in the beginning ... it was like a sign that told me to turn back now.
ReplyDeleteAlso, literally LOLed at your rating at the end.
WTF IS THAT POOR BOY DOING...?
Delete*giggity*
200% stronger than regular sleeping pills.
ReplyDeleteSo when are you guys going to review crayon pop's oi?
ReplyDelete*runs away*
All jokes aside (lel), I also found the folding screen effects to be quite cool, too bad people would've been unconscious before they get to that part.
Not gonna lie, I stopped watching before that point, so it was news to me seeing it here.
Delete@Fany Pack; You're not the only one.
Deletewtf is this?
ReplyDeleteThe rapping at the beginning woke me up, then the chorus came, and well, even they sounded sleepy. I don't blame them. Without their voices, the music itself was boring. Oh, as for the appeal, that's because they're signed to YG and they won Kpop Star 2, that's all. Honestly, that guy who rapped sounded like Mad Clown, except an annoying version of him, and he didn't crap all over song like Mad Clown did when he collaborated with Soyu.
ReplyDeletetypical department store background music.
ReplyDeletetheir voices don't blend well either.
This. It sounds like one of 'em (probably the boy) is just a hair off key and no one thought to fix that in post production.
DeleteYeh.. That's my main problem with it.
DeleteI like their voices, but it doesn't work together in this song. It feels like they are competing for attention rather than meshing.
Well, I'll probably still keep it as a Red Eye flight track.
I need this kind of non-descript music so I can sleep on them planes.
Everyone is praising this song, I just use it to fall asleep.
ReplyDelete"The brother's voice kinda sounds like what Jay Park would if he could carry a tune, or maybe I'm just imagining things."
ReplyDeleteOuch~ Po' Jay Park XD
I rather liked this song/video. Considering what horrid things could have happened to these two in YG's basement (see - Taeyang's transformation into GD 2.0), I thought this song/album came out pretty well. The light and jazzy feel to the song is a powerful sleep, but I'd rather fall asleep laughing at how awkward these two are (Lee Hi should have joined these two and formed a unit called YG's Awkard Maknaes or some mess like that) than Busker Busker and SM's boring balladeque bullshit.
I won't even bother to listen or watch the MV.
ReplyDeleteThe rapping is SO awkward... Their song 'Melted' sounds way better and apparently there's wordplay in the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteBut really, awesome use of gif in the last part XD
The song isn't so bad, but based on this review and their chart performance, I guess Koreans really, really like songs that will put them to sleep.
ReplyDeleteThe chorus got stuck in my head bad so there's that I guess. Not my favorite thing ever. But the brother's like 17 and he wrote all the songs, that's a big part of the draw for their fans or whatever. Check out Melted though. The instrumental's fantastic. Cello and piano and daaaaaaaamn son. Her voice sounds better in that song too.
ReplyDeleteAkMu are sort of overrated. :\
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely better singers in kpop. Plus their music is boring too.
