Question of the Week 55

I think we all know what this week's question was going to be:
Did Hwayoung deserve to be kicked out of T-ara? What is your stance on this whole event?

This question shall be open to a spectrum of questions, too: Did you even like her in T-ara? How do you feel about how she was treated by the other members (were the pictures and gifs out of context)? Do you think CCM should have completely terminated her contract, or let her stay, but in another group? What do you think will happen to 6-ara now? Should the original girls be penalized for what they allegedly did? Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?

I don't know. I feel bad for Hwayoung. She did not deserve to be "bullied" out. I mean, she should never have been added, but it is really unfair for her to be kicked out so unfairly with a completely terminated contract. Hyoyoung must be furious.

6-ara should have just asked strongly for her to be taken out a long ass while ago to avoid this mess. You dun goofed, T-ara. Dun goofed.

But with that said, I feel bad for both parties as well. T-ara does not deserve all this hate, either. Personally, I am a fan of T-ara (6-ara to be exact). Ideally, I think they should just lay low and stop doing any sort of promotions / advertisements until Gayo Daejun's. Then in January, they can make a strong comeback once the flames have died down a bit. But the actresses should stay in their roles at least until the show is done for the season as they cannot just merely take the girls out of any story suddenly. That is where plot holes come from, my friends.

Thirdly, Hwayoung should not have needed to apologize to Kim Kwang Soo. That is just ridiculous and unjust. Besides, I think she legitimately feels bad for the trouble she (I am not saying she is the sole cause of it all) caused for herself and T-ara. Poor girl. I guess everyone is probably apologetic for their part in this whole debacle.

Scatter_mil88's and my solution to this whole mess: Hwayoung, after telling the reporter that she was off to apologize to CCM, should have instead actually kicked KKS in the nuts and then punched him in the face. Slap upside the head! Stupidity should never be rewarded!

If I were Areum and Dani, I would get the fudge out. I would not want to feel the wrath of 6-ara and KKS.

If anyone has suggestions for later "Question of the Weeks", please send them to zomg.oppa.sareanghae@gmail.com, or leave them in the comments below. Thanks!

  1. T-ara, Hwayoung and even KKS were just victims of the scoop-hungry Korean entertainment media. KKS was just too stupid to come up with a better solution.

He could've just denied all rumors without any additional comments. Then, he could've disciplined T-ara. Or, he could've forced the girls to post a "happy family" photo with Hwayoung. That could've dispelled all bullying accusations. In the entertainment industry, it's better to be fake than to lose your job.

But after all this, T-ara would still get support from the public. And bitches or not, no one deserves to be ganged up on. They don't deserve this witch hunt, nobody does.

  3. I think T-ara and Hwayoung made up an image of Hwayoung being bullied to attack KKS career. Poor guy! He so qt

Honestly, during the whole scandal I was constantly thinking "they shouldn't have added her in the first place, they shouldn't have added her in the first place". She's not that horrible at rapping but Eunjung was so good because of that emotion in her voice. In the beginning I found Hwadog ugly but that has changed.

I always wanted her to be kicked out, but in a humanely fashion.

  4. She grew on me to the point where though I didn't like her, I didn't mind her being around. She most likely was an outcast of the group so she definitely didn't deserve to be just fired and slandered like she was.

Instead I would have paid the girls to pretend to get along and deny all rumors about bullying, and after a couple of months transfer Hwayoung to 5dolls. I heard they were going to kick out the ugly one anyway, so might as well replace her with Hwayoung as the new leader.

I would also schedule regular MT trips so shit like this isn't going to keep happening.

  5. She didn't deserve to be kicked out. That's ridiculous. Was the bullying true? Well first off, anyone with a brain can see that at the very least, CCM was making up all kinds of bullshit. That doesn't help their case at all. But now Hwayoung's cousin is saying it was true, so that's enough for me to say alright, sure, it did happen.

How bad was it? Honestly, it wouldn't take much for it to be severe. When you're in a group, that group is your whole life, that is your social circle. If you are an outcast there, it's like you're an outcast from the whole world. That is a horrible and damaging thing in itself. If they were rough with her too, that's only adding insult to injury.

Should the other girls be penalized? If they don't come clean, yeah. I understand that Kim Kwang Satan is probably keeping them from doing so even if they want to, but they should anyway. Why should a person continue to have privileges that they worked to make miserable for someone else, even to the point of the other person losing them? If there is no apology, I wouldn't feel bad if they were dismissed.

As for Kim Kwang Satan, while the girls are responsible for what they did, he is responsible for creating the situation. Putting Hwayoung in a group where she isn't welcome, apparently not doing near enough to team build, allowing her to be a reject for 20 months, then punishing her for it and letting the others off? Utterly absurd and wrong.

Did I even like Hwayoung before this? That's the funny part. She had been upgrading in her skill, charm, and looks. After their Italy thing I kind of liked her, but then with Day by Day it was settled and I even accepted her in T-ara. Then all this shit went down so soon after she had won me over, I felt like she really got screwed out of something she had finally earned her place in.

    1. Having watched all of T-ara's variety and also read Hyo the leader's tumblr I'd say she wasn't that actively bullied like people think, but just an outcast. That simply the atmosphere is too awkward for them to interact, making her pretty damn lonely.

    3. @lumpor Being excluded and shunned is bullying as well. I read that that happens in the Korean school system a fair bit.

      Delete
    4. So every you bully every person you don't regularly hang out with? The only reason you don't consider yourself a bully for doing that is because the people you don't hang out with have other people to hang out with. T-ara is a group of 7 though, so there simply aren't as many options for hwayoung compared to in a school class.

    7. If you're in a small group for a long time there'd be even more reason to make an effort to not be awkward and uncomfortable with the other people, since you're going to be around them a lot. And besides its important for them to get along since they are essentially a team and they have shared goals and all that, so its smarter for them to make the effort to not be "awkward", which is maybe how the situation began, but it almost definitely escalated into a type of shunning or bullying.
I mean I GUESS, I wasn't really there, but this is what it seems like. My point was that just because there aren't any outward signs of bullying, (though there kind of are in this case) doesn't mean it isn't happening.

  6. Postin' from an internet cafe here. Dinner was mediocre but at least I didn't pay shit :)

.Did Hwadog deserve to be kicked out? From the circumstances, no - even as a 6-ara fan. If I had to say, I would have preferred her out but not in this kind of fashion.

.What is my stance? I blame Crap Cunt Morons for adding her in the first place and just draggin' shit downhill internally from that point onwards.

    1. No, I didn't really like her as a T-ara member. At times, I even forgot she was there and felt she was just a random person who I never gave a flying fuck about. Corpse Girl didn't even know she was a member till this shitstorm came about.

    2. What the other members did isn't excusable. I do however, understand and empathize their position and hell, I've had similar experiences myself (both bullying and being bullied). Quite a portion of the 'evidence' gathered from them crazy netizens had already been debunked already and if anything, I'd only trust the police to investigate shit - at least it'd be more credible than a bunch of anonymous twats.

    3. Can't be sure what that fucktard of a company should have done with her. On the plus side however, she's a free bird now. No more sleepless days, getting effed up by both 6-ara and that greazy Jabba the Hutt 2.0 - and at least she can have the daily routine of a normal human (i.e. cruising around AKF)

    4. Lord knows what the hell's gonna happen to T-ara from this point on. Although a hiatus would be the most wise move.

    5. Punished for that particular incident, yes. Though this would depend on which member is the most to blame. It would a bit crazy to punish Boram on the same level as say, Jiyeon for example - whom I believe is among the more prominent bullies whereas Boram seems more like a figurehead or a puppet.

Along with the nut kicking - Hwadog should've slammed some fried chicken and watermelon herself into that airhead's mouth :)

But if I were Areum or Dani, I'll be asking Daesung or Drunkhun (or both) to drive me over to North Korea - and pray they won't smash into someone.

Overall - Klown Kunt Sucker is to be blamed for this entire mess blowing out. Corpse Girl's opinion - same as moi. Though she still wants Jiyeon out - permanently.

That's what I have to say along with CG's few opinions of the matter.

Starcraft II, here I come!!!! Gonna be fun to kick her ass.

    2. Yeah pretty much my stance. I'm not a fan or anything so I'm kinda unbias towards it all. Barely anything's been said and if it wasn't for that twitter thing, it wouldn't have exploded as much as it has. (and the KKS guy just really need to shut up...)

  10. At first, I was puzzled as to why they are adding a new member to T-ara. I have always liked her from the start, her and Hyomin and Qri were my favorite T-ara members, but as time past, it was only hwa and qri that I stan.

It sucks that she was kicked out the way she did, but for this entire T-ara fiasco, I put the blame solely on KKS, what a retard. Every time he opens his mouth he contradicts everything he had said before. He slaves the group to the point of implosion from within the group. Then he has the nerve to add two new members. Ahreum and Dani should run as far as they can away from KKS. Sucks for Dani though since her family just sold their house to live in korea, so they cant go back.

T-ara is my most listened kpop group, my 2nd favorite kpop group. I will continue listening to them and follow them, if they dont disband.

Do I believe the "bullying" happened? Yes I do, it might not be as serious as the netizens say it is. The one story that gets me is that a Music Bank official said that they locked Hwa out of the room and she was crying which is supposedly witness by other idols. I mean the girl has a sprain ankle and walking with crutches, I am surprised she didnt break the door down and killed everybody in that room.

Bullying happens in every group, but for T-ara, it was just handled wrongly.

  11. I think Hwayoung apologized just to get the media scrutiny off of herself and to lay low for awhile. If she didn't apologize the whole thing would keep going on, and we all know the Korean entertainment industry/ public opinion is very critical. This way she gets to save face and sort of say the generic, "I should improve as a person." which could really mean anyyyything. And she looks like the bigger person by sort of apologizing, but not really directly addressing the actual events that happened. I think it was the right thing for her to do, rather than to remain in a publicizied conflict with KKS and the T-ara girls.

    ReplyDelete
  12. None of us know T-ara or Hwayoung personally, how can we judge without the facts.

The only things we know for sure are:
1 - KKS is a compulsive liar who keeps contradicting himself
2 - CCM have the worst PR in the world ever
3 - CCM are incapable of dealing with conflicts within their groups (SeeYa, 5dolls, T-ara)
4 - you should never allow your artists to vent on social media

All this drama could have been avoided by mediating between Hwayoung and the other members. If that didn't work, just let her go with a BS excuse a la Hyuna leaving WG.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If Hwayoung was "innocent" and a valuable member at the least, she wouldn't have gotten kicked out so suddenly and easily. I think she's gotta be at more fault than the other members for most of this mess. Everyone disliked her for a reason.
I don't dislike her but I'm glad she's out of the group. Now to keep Dani out...

  14. I'm not a huge fan of T-ara to begin with so I don't really care for any of the members too much, but I really like Hwayoung's rap in Day By Day so she grew a bit on me. There's certainly some proof that she was bullied by the other members so in that way I feel really bad for her but there's no definitive proof... sadly.

  17. I never was really a fan of T-ara until day by day(liked it a little) and don't leave,(love that song) and never cared about any of the members before. anyway I feel bad for Hwayoung, she is(and soyeon and Areum) are the only reason i cared about day by day. But the situation isn't her fault, kks put her in the group and the members acted unprofessionally. I get the didn't what the addition but they should have just gotten over it, but (i think) they isolated her from the group and that was very childish(and these bitches are too old for that shit). no one said they had to be BFFs with her just work with the cards you are dealt. The end result was a cluster fuck. I she is forced to take the blame when the only thing KKS had to do is make the members apologize(they would have gotten a little hate but nothing of this magnitude) for what they did and make up some BELIEVABLE BS about why hwayoung was leaving but no he makes up stupid lies that are easily unfold and ended up making the other members look even worse. I completely understand that he couldn't possibly fired all the members that had there parts in the twitter thing but it was all downhill since the first lie and this was completely KKS fault and he will never admit he's decisions were wrong.
but all their twitter accounts were at the same time!what you don't believe me?
    - no asshole. no one does and i don't even think he brought that lie when he came up with it.

I think I've accepted Hwayoung was the outcast of the group and was occasionally messed with by the other members, but the way fans are acting is getting old fast.

And KKS is lihitlerlly the worst man in kpop (behind open world ent).

    1. yes! boram has no reason being being in the group. I never closely followed the group but she usually sing-talks one line in all the songs and lip sings on stage. why is she still there? just taking up space.i think a saw something(before this whole thing) about the t-ara fans complaining about her uselessness. at least other useless people have fans...

      Delete
    2. The other useless ones usually are somewhat physically attractive.

I mean, hell, even Wooram is 10 times as talented as this bitch. Boram only got into the group so T-ara could advertise themselves as "the group with Jeon Youngrok's daughter". Apparently Boram's father is super famous. She's done her part now though and she isn't needed anymore. Hopefully she's a decent person enough to leave T-ara volountarily.

      Delete
    3. She has one purpose in the group - providing the members some good'ol weed or whatever else can get ya stoned. THAT is what I call useful.

      Delete
  21. T-ara may not be my bias group but I did like some of their song especially when they were still 6-ara. Anyway, Hwayoung did not deserve to be kicked out of the group, if you're going to ask me who to kick then I'd say Boram, just like the others say, she's definitely the most useless member in T-ara and she did not improve a bit since they debuted. And about the issue, I guess it is true that she was an outcast in the group. 6-ara did not deserve the hate/witch hunt they are getting right now, sure they might have bullied Hwayoung at some point but I don't think that the "bullying" isn't as serious as what the netizens claim. The only person that should've been hated, cursed, crucified and should be burned to death was KKS because he was really pathetic since the start of this issue, his poor PR skills, contradictions and lies caused the downfall of 6-ara. He probably is the worst CEO in kpop right now.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't believe that she was horribly bullied and shat all over her whole time with the group but she prob was isolated in the beginning cause the other girls most likely felt "bitch needs to earn her keep". But I don't believe she was bullied in the way antis and the netizens are trying to make it seem.

Didn't really care for them (don't even know the members names). Honestly, still won't care for them in the future.

It wasn't fair she ws kicked out but judging by how unprofessionaly and quick to blame her the company was i'm glad she got a chance to leave.

  24. My stance is that none of us, except for people in the inside, actually know what is going on. For all we know, Hwayoung could actually be the chessmaster in all of this, and played everything out to look like the victim. Who knows? (Although I personally think it's a less likely theory. The evidence we were allowed seems make out T-ara as the culprits.) It's like that AsianJunkie article said: confirmation bias plays a big part. We'll believe what we want to, even though we don't know the truth.

If T-ara were, in fact, bullying Hwayoung, then shame on them. I can understand if they didn't appreciate a new member riding the wave of popularity that -they- worked for, but bullying her was immature and not the right solution. Furthermore, publicly displaying their annoyance in that subtle, passive-aggressive way on a social network was not a good move at all. It seems unprofessional. Then again, what was KKS' part in this? Isn't he supposed to iron out the crinkles in their conflicts or something? T-ara isn't totally to blame. Anyway, I digressed. I would applaud Hwayoung for getting out, if somehow this bullying was confirmed. And even though I was never a fan of T-ara in general before, I'd support her and her future endeavours wholeheartedly.

In the same breath, T-ara really shouldn't be receiving as much hate as they are getting now. I'm not excusing their alleged bullying, but I'm saying that it's been blown out of proportion. It's not as if T-ara are the one and only set of big bad bullying bitches to hit the K-pop scene. Again, I never really paid attention to T-ara before but if as 7-ara everything seemed peachy and hunky-dory, it's not impossible for other groups who seem peachy and hunky-dory to be experiencing the same thing.

If anything, I took this situation as a reality check. Although I was never under a pretense that everything in the world of idols was rainbows and ponies, it was certainly a wake-up call. It was a reminder that no matter how happy a group might look together, unless you are on the inside, you only have assumptions to go by. *shrug*
