Music Core had its 400th episode this past Saturday and had some special stages worth watching....and some special stages that you wish you never watched. It's always good to see things mixed up because with these music shows, the only thing that keeps me watching them is for the gif-able moments.
The stages I enjoyed watching the most were Sunmi and Ga-in covering each other's songs. I was impressed that ga-in didn't choose to skip over that part at 1:20, as I was totally expecting it. Sunmi looked great in the Bloom outfit, and I'm sure one of the backup dancers either had the worst or best job, depending on his sexual orientation.
Kahi temporarily rejoins After School as she is desperately seeking another paycheck.
Sistar covers miss A's Hush (which is still a really shitty song) and miss A covers Sistar's Alone. miss A must have been relieved for a day to have someone else cover their song and not suffer.
Secret and Rainbow Blaxx covered some old school Kpop songs.
Boy's Day covered Girl's Day's Something. Yeah, I would recommend you not watch this.
Ailee and Hyorin covered a song, and it was a contest to see who could vocally masturbate more than the other. Yaaaaaawn.
However, T-ara and Koyote save the day with Do You Know Me? and Roly Poly.
Jaejin will reward you in paradise for enduring the suffering Boy's Day.

ReplyDeleteSadly, I think you might be right about this one.
And BOO for them not doing the "Bang!"version with E-young's guitar solo.
DeleteAlso, is UEE even in A.S. anymore?
UEE has a drama to film.
DeleteNeither Ailee or Hyorin fits Let It Go, if anyone was gonna be singing it they should've gotten the chick from Kiss & Cry
ReplyDeleteI just wish everyone would stop covering it. If anything, people should be covering songs like this.

Blaxx cover is not on music core, its a show called yesterday XD
ReplyDeleteBlame MBC for mixing that upload in between their Music Core uploads lol.
DeleteI liked After School's performance and loved seeing Secret again, especially in a non-cutesy role. Best-ara was fine, but I hate when shows cut the songs to almost nothing. That just pisses me off.
ReplyDeleteThat fucking bitrate on the T-ara video, man...
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at the Ailee and Hyorin comment. haha
a friend of mine was wearing a black uneven hem skirt today and i realized that she looks a lot like sojin.
ReplyDeletealso one of the boy's day dudes looks like bomi????
Must be Ren, Only one who looks like a gurl.
DeleteThey just have to fucking cut the best part of do you know me/na ottoke
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am happy on the second part
Girl's Day was nice to watch, until the trauma started. At least it wasn't Shindong dancing to it. That guy who kept winking looked like he had some muscle problems. Hyorin and Ailee was boring. T-ara was entertaining, but I wanted to see more of Roly Poly.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Kahi/AS performance, I really wasn't expecting it.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they keep putting Ailee and Hyorin together? when they sing together it just makes it more clear that they don't have anything special. they hit the notes but it is still always boring.
T-ara was the best. they may all lipsync, but their stage is always fun.
As much as I love T-ara, I am really concerned about Jiyeon and Hyomin making their solo debuts.
The only highlight for me was Gains 24 hours cover, and Ailee and Hyorins Let it Go duet, I thought it was great performance personally. And I'm out ~
ReplyDeleteI really like it when two idol groups or soloists sing each others songs. Not sure why, but I guess it feels nostalgic?
ReplyDeleteAlso I now know where the whole "Boys Day" pictures around tumblr are from. I assumed it was from a performance but I didn't really know where it was from exactly.
When I first saw the pictures, I thought Minhyuk (BTOB) and Ren were actually girls until I looked closely.
But this dance cover was just as cringe-worthy as any other kpop drag performance.
On another note, I think this line "miss A must have been relieved for a day to have someone else cover their song and not suffer." applies to Sistar also.
Btw did you purposely only put in female performances from the episode? Unless all the male performances sucked in your opinion?
Most people here are more interested in female groups. Only male groups I can take seriously are hiphop and rock bands.
DeleteThat's true.
DeleteAnd ahh okay.
>miss A Hush >a shitty song
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the only one here who liked Hush, Forgettable though.
DeleteI really cringed when I saw Boy's Day, Now I get flaccid when I watch Something :( By the way did anyone see Girl's Day's version of I love you?
ReplyDeleteI really like the AS&Kahi performance, Nice to see them together again.
Boy's Day is what I call a trap, though I'm not sure how they found a dress big enough to fit Hongbin's shoulders. Liked Gain's "24 Hours", but I felt Sunmi's "Bloom" was bland and didn't have the spunk Gain had in her performances. Sunmi suits her own concepts much better, unsurprisingly. Hyorin made "Hush" tolerable, although I believe that song shouldn't be performed by any group, much less two. Miss A's cover of "Alone" was good. T-ara did not disappoint, and I got a bit teary-eyed when they brought back Roly Poly for an entire minute.
ReplyDeleteDia from Kiss&Cry has already done the best Kpop cover of that overrated song from Frozen, so can we stop beating this dead horse into the afterlife? Hyorin and Ailee are both powerful vocalists, but I didn't find the song enjoyable to hear. You don't need the lungs of an alpinist to sing well and make a song listenable.
I always enjoy Music Core.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the full episode, but I saw Boy's Day. It was kind of funny that Ren took it so seriously. He looked beautiful, though.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Let it Go stage should've just been a solo stage for Hyorin, because I had absolutely no problem with the way she sang it. Ailee, on the other hand, annoyed the fuck out of me. I'm tired of her adding her own little "vocal flares" to songs that are better sung the way they were originally sung, and how she seemed to be desperately trying to out-sing her own DUET PARTNER.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe this is just my Hyorin-bias, but I see all the other Hyorin-biased people jizzing over how "PERFECT" and "FLAWLESS" this duet was, while I'm just sitting here rolling my eyes. I was excited for Ailee at first, but now she just... annoys me.
Only people who should be doing a "Let it go" cover is ChoA and Way...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAK2ILnGYCY
ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks Ren is anything but a transvestite in drag needs to re-evaluate their standards of beauty and/or self-esteem. l0l
