[MV Review] Backup Dancers feat. DBSK - Spellbound

DBSK makes a comeback with Spellbound, and who cares because their backup dancers are really hot.

I actually like the song. The jazzy rhythm is good, and it is a nice turning point for DBSK, who probably took their dubstep/EDM style as far as it could go before they started looking like Super Junior without always having the same style of song for every comeback. However, the chorus for the song sucks, but the I like the rest of it. It usually goes the other way around with Kpop songs, but this is one of the exceptions.

However, the only reason why you should care about this music video is because of the backup dancers. They are hot. SM finally figured out a way to get males to watch a boy band music video. So the next time your dad/grandpa/uncle/brother/cousin/friend walks in on you and asks you why you're watching this gay shit, you can say "You can't use the 'gay shit' label this time because the backup dancers are hot."

I hope SM debuts some of these girls in a new girl group. They don't even need any good vocalists or anything. They can do what some of those Japanese idol groups do and just have one or two vocalists and just let the dancers dance...except this would be better because there wouldn't be any yaeba to ruin the fucking music video.

  1. If this were the new girl group SM was planning to debut, then putting them in the MV was a good choice. Well, it was a good choice anyways.

    1. Yeah I'm pretty sure it is that girl group because they make way too much eye contact with the camera for backup dancers. SM thinks they are being sneaky.

    2. Really? I was under the impression that SM would debut younger girls, not women who look BoA's age...

    3. Nah these women will never debut as a group, they're professional backup dancers NOT SM trainees. These women get paid pretty well and already have fan groups and stuff.

  2. Technically they're known as TVXQ, and DBSK is no longer used after that JYJ dispute. In the last picture, it really looks like Yunho got to the bang the girl, assuming her back always faces the audience.

    1. They mean the same damn thing. DBSK is the Korean pronunciation of TVXQ. They may as well stop promoting as THSK in Japan by that logic.

    2. All of their names mean Rising Gods of the East or something like that.

  3. somehow i always find tvxq songs kinda boring when they first release but they grow on me like mad a couple of months after they're finished promoting

  4. TVXQ is the only boy act that I like to watch, mainly do to the choreography and their good stage presence.

  5. The new privilege of boy bands: Get skimpy backup dancers while girl groups are forbidden from having man candy

    1. Damn right!!!
I think, that's a kind of racism against women...

  6. Damn. I'm feeling the chick on the right.

I'm not sure if they've got anything to do with SM's new girl group though. They look a little older than the other supposed members... not that that means anything, really.

  7. I would give anything to grasp my fingers on Yungod. But back to the song, I like Something better, but this might grow on me.

  8. TVXQ! is one of the best male groups but Something was just a snorefest and this is even worse. That being said, the choreography is fantastic as always!

  9. The lead dancer, who ends up in the final scene of the MV winking at us, looks like a prettier version of Fei.

I agree some or all of the back-up dancers will be SM Ent's new girl group. Far too many close-ups of their faces especially the last dancer. I suspect she's the leader or face of the new group.

    1. Also pretty impressive that those girls did the entire MV in one continuous take.

    3. There is no such thing as 'hotter than Fei'. It just doesn't work.
      At all.

    4. There is no such thing as a person prettier than Fei. There just isn't.
      Never.

  10. I enjoy their new jazz style with their recent songs and TVXQ never fail to amaze me with their performances.
I thought "Something" was good but I kind of grew tired of it for a while, hopefully it doesn't end up that way with "Spellbound".
On the plus side, the choreography was really impressive as always.

  11. I really enjoy their live performances. you can tell they are at another level.

  12. They actually aren't trainees or anything. As far as I know, they are a separate dance group not affiliated with SM, other than being brought in for this MV. Hopefully, they come back for more MVs.
