Summer 2015 hits
Aug. 31 marks the official end of summer in Korea. While it's winter where I am, I was able to experience summer through K-pop songs. Sadly, this isn't a good thing as a lot of the summer-themed comebacks in the past three months sucked. So, I've compiled a list of my top seven songs. These are all personal views, so you will likely disagree with the list. Granted, I have not stuck specifically to summer-themed songs, because if I did, the list wouldn't go past three ... So without further ado, the top songs of K-pop summer 2015.

Ecological Messages in K-Pop

As you may have guessed from the fact that one of the authors has a whale shark for an avatar, all of us at AKF care deeply about the environment and the preservation thereof. In between my daily acts of masturbation and gardening, I like to see how K-Pop represents my views, and I am pleased to say that a lot of K-Pop carries with it a deeply powerful ecological message. Today I wish to present to you a handful of the K-Pop videos that show a strong concern for the state of our earth and all creatures on it, especially whale sharks. I see no reason to beat around the bush any longer; let us begin.

I know that it is halfway through July, but fuck you, I have been in Japan, representing a number of idols without their knowledge to get the JAV industry to express interest. Jooheon will be posing in sexy lingerie within the next month, all thanks to my hard work. Anyway, here's the shit that happened in June.

Where April was mediocre, May was straight up bad. Let's see if I can scrape together enough songs to say nice things about before abusing every other release this month.

Not too far into the future a great calamity overtook the world of Kpop. After years of extremely bland, derivative songs and poorly written articles a great battle was fought. After years of harsh fighting, most of Kpop was completely destroyed except for a few groups who went into hiding and several blog authors. Eventually those groups came out of hiding and were split into 12 districts. As punishment for their transgressions each district is mandated to send 2 representatives or tributes to a fight to the death with only one person emerging victorious.
This is a recap of how the first ever Kpop Hunger Games played out.
(Please note, this is entirely random so don't accuse me of stacking the results.)

1deep9u: Sohyunna's guide to the arthouse in K-Pop

K-Pop is a simple enough thing to define, it is pop music in the Korean language; simple enough, right? Arthouse has no such luck, often being used as a catch-all term for anything without any explosions, in a foreign language, made for under £4, or completely incomprehensible. K-Pop music videos are usually simple to understand and very high budget, but I have chosen to explore the MVs which are more similar to Michael Haneke than Michael Bay. At least, that's what I will say but it is more than likely (read: absolutely certain) that these actually aren't arthouse at all and I am just posting them for a few cheap laughs. Either way, I will be looking at, as yet, an undecided number of videos and telling you why they should be screened in smoky picture, houses and analysed by turtleneck wearers for years to come, along with the arthouse directors who they mirror the most.

A Pervert's Guide to K-Pop

Kpopalypse
As I was sitting on my bourgeois chair, wearing my bourgeois clothes, drinking my bourgeois cup of tea, and surfing the bourgeois Internet the other day, a thought came to me: where is the Marxism in K-Pop? We see a lot of product placement, exploitation of workers, and the existence of G-Dragon which makes one wonder when the proletariat will rise up and make themselves known in this decadent medium. Maybe it has happened already and communism is indoctrinating thousands of Korean children without anyone being aware of it in the slightest. Well, today is the day for the truth to come forward, comrades. I am going to show you how different K-Pop videos carry hidden messages from our Communist overlords, particularly in regards to Marx's stages of society. So kick back, be rid of your opiate, and sing along with me.
