Saturday Shitfest #12

Today's Shitfest is going to be started with the diss tracks between E-Sens and Gaeko. Yes, get your popcorn gifs ready, bitches.

E-Sens - You Can't Control Me

Gaeko - I Can Control You

Oh yeah, Zaku should be streaming tonight. You know, if he actually tells people he's streaming instead of waiting an hour after the start time to tell people that he isn't streaming.

    1. Also, I know this is old news but I was wondering about Little Mix's Korean cover of "Wings" and how good/bad their pronunciation was as judged by the ears of a Korean speaker. Would it be considered Kpop?

    2. My attempts at speaking Korean are quite horrendous (I've managed a couple of song translations in the past though idk how) but I'd say it's better than Chad Future but I wouldn't consider it Kpop-by-a-fluent-korean-speaker level. I understood most of the lyrics (lord bless the hangul lyrics too) but one or two of the girls (I think the blonde and the darker ones) were kinda pronouncing it like you would spanish or something? Idk how to describe it it seemed awkward but it might just be their way of singing? Their pronunciation was really distinct to me, like they had spent hours trying to get it right, but couldn't manage to get it sounding like legit korean. Most of the words were pronounced right, (they had some troubles with 져 etc and doubles like ㄸ, but a lot of non-native korean speakers have issues with at least the last one for sure) but it was kinda enunciated wrong? Idk how to put it either. It still wasn't bad. Someone more fluent at Korean could probably be of more aid than me.

    3. Most kpop idols sound awkward when they sing in Japanese so it's nothing new.

    4. I don't know if this counts, but I can read Korean quite well and have hung out heaps of times with Korean classmates so I have quite an idea about how everything is supposed to be enunciated. I also speak fluent Khmer (which took me two good years to learn to read fluently because some words aren't pronounced like they are spelled), in which most words are hard to pronounce if you're not a native speaker, so I'll give Little Mix a try. Jade (I think that's her name) pronounced ahna 않아 as eon-ah and that some of the lyrics were kinda mumbled and pronounced so fast that they sounded nothing like the Hangul. Overall, they did okay for an English-speaking band who had to quickly learn to pronounce everything.

  4. There isn't any good songs/comebacks lately (latest one to me was bumkey). I'm seriously in aa crisis of repeatable kpop songs D:.

Also kpopalypse if you're reading this, can you please tell me the chords of the 'painkiller' song that ccm made? Thx

    1. 1st pass Gm | D | G/B (G with B as the root note or G 1st inversion) | Cm | F | Bb | A augmented (although normal A also works) | D

2nd pass through is the same except instead of just D in the last bar, it's D and then back to Gm for the last two beats of the bar.

The song alternates between the first and second pass until it gets to the solo section which starts at 4:19 in the drama video:

      F | Bb | F | Bb | D | Gm | Eb | D | Eb

Then it goes back to the first two passes but everything is one semitone up, so Gm is now G#m, D is D#, etc.

Might not be 100% correct but it's pretty fuckin' close, close enough to sound like it and be recognisable.

One of the most harmonically complex and interesting songs in k-pop tbh. This is why I like CCM, I don't give a shit how rubbish their PR is, how many times KKS fucks with lineups or who hates who in what group, if their songwriters keep bringing the quality songs like this I'll keep buying.

    2. Actually it's not A augmented, it's.... Am7b9. But yeah... A will do.

    3. Thanks for putting in the effort to write it down! I really have limited musical/piano skills, so I'll hopefully be able to learn all those chords and play it on the piano.

      Delete
    4. If you're still struggling by the time I bother to stream again, ask me and I'll sit in front of a piano and actually play those chords for you.

  6. Omomomo!! Quick! Somebody alert allkpop so they can bury it in their un-navigatable lay-out.
Ah, I can predict the k-netizens comments on netizenbuzz
"ㅋㅋㅋ Shinbi is such a gold digger"
    "It won't last ㅋㅋㅋ"
    "Ilbe bugs"

    2. I'd say in terms of the international kpop community, we are probably the ilbe equivalent, with a few less jokes about Roh Moo Hyun.
More so before chuck oppa got rid of anonymous comments. The knetizens don't know about us yet though, or they'd be on a witch hunt to see that we all got outed and/or castrated. (After the wild protests on the streets cease)

    1. they're aping kendrick (because original ideas are too much like hard work) but he was throwing down the gauntlet to other rappers, not bringing up personal/business shit.

    2. Idk I love diss tracks. Epik High did one about The guy from CB Mass who embezzled all their money for his group's debut (and thus formed Dynamic Duo and stuff) and it's actually one of my favorite tracks by them.

      Delete
    3. Kenrick was challenging the scene to stop being content with the status quo and use competition to sharpen their music. I would argue that's what hip-hop is all about, not potshots.

As for why, this is the best way for them to discredit their enemies. People are already hating on Amoeba & Gaeko while sympathizing for ex-Supreme Team, so a success for them.

    1. I like it. Typical jpop "adult" (brothel?) concept, the video does even show the classic "chakuero" POV shot (which kinda reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lA9IX7VwBs). Kaeun and Jupal are just lovely.

    2. Only thing that sucks is they disabled comments and ratings. At least that keeps away mouth breathing KPOP/JPOP Biases from rabidly disliking the video or getting into shitty flame wars.

      Delete
    3. Anyone got a higher res version of this?

    4. @Aedea you can bet my real boner is just as hard as your lady one is.

  10. It's time I come out of my shell. Every time Tiffany sings, she sounds like she's sick with the flu and it sounds freaking terrible at times. I'm pretty sure I might be the only one, considering every else thinks she sounds fine.

  11. I find it funny how some people want idols such as GD and Hwayoung to join in on this.

    1. Yeah GD needs to earn his scars and demonstrate YG avant garde.

    2. Hwayoung had her chance to write a diss rap in that 50 second thing she previewed last year but all she wanted to do was talk about how she's a "Fashionista" and shit. I guess when you're the guilty party but nobody realises it yet it's best to just shut your fucking mouth.

  12. Hey I noticed that the stream poll has most people picking the "stream at a better time you assholes" option. So guys, please tell us - when during the week WOULD be a better time?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sat n sun would probably the be the best, and I don't think you have a problem, since u stream twice a day.

      Delete
    2. Zaku already streams at 5PM PST, so I'm figuring then it's the time of day that's the issue rather than the actual day itself?

      Delete
    3. People are shit out of luck if they want a drastic time change, seeing as 7/9 of the authors live in the US/Canada.

      Delete
    4. Given the non-response here I think people will be unhappy no matter when we stream and just picked that option in the poll because it was the funniest one. I don't think I could be more flexible than streaming twice at 12 hour intervals anyway.
