JYP brings one of his sex dreams to life and who better to choose to fulfill that duty than Fei?
I saw a Fei solo coming from a mile away. There had been talks of her doing some solo projects since 2013 and with Jia leaving Miss A, JYP had to have at least one member not named Suzy to do something this year.
I have no idea why I like this song, but instead of being the average either really fast paced or painfully slow paced songs that cover most of K-pop, "Fantasy" offers a more mid-tempo pace. It has a rather artsy and synthy sound and I find it rather pleasant. Almost soothing especially paired with Fei's soft voice. The chorus picks up slightly and the song builds a little from there but nothing too out of the ordinary but it works due to the songs oddness, any more bells and whistles honestly would have just made it too jarring. "Fantasy" manages to keep my attention without doing too much. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, that's for sure. But for what it's worth, I think Fei and JYP both did a good job with it.
Rocking that hair style.
I love this fucking music video. If you think Fei is hot then you'll find a lot to love since the video is basically her showing off her sexiness to her full extent. But I also love how weird it is. It's like something out of 80s, I'm loving the editing and dancing (sexy hula-hoop routine.) The set changes are pretty cool too and futuristic looking. The only thing that is honestly off is the ending starting around 3:00 because it looks like the dudes mind is lagging and it makes me laugh. Also round of applause for Fei being sexy in flat gym shoes because for too long have female idols feet been getting bruised and injured due to dancing in heels.
I love this hair color on her.
Overall I'm not saying "Fantasy" is a masterpiece however it is definitely worth the listen and watch. The teasers didn't just lie, you were given what you were promised, which is a well done song and a very well done music video.
I totally agree with you about the song. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Plus I really like the fact that they're not making Fei go out of her vocal range. The music video was alright, I really liked the hula-hoop dance routine. I don't think that's something that's ever been done in K-pop before, as far as my knowledge goes at least. Overall I think this solo debut was totally fitting for Fei's voice and age.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, it's pretty perfect for her!
DeleteOh dear
ReplyDeleteDear oh dear oh dear.
According to your third micro-video-clip, the poor thing has a left elbow hyperextension injury.
We all must pray for her.
Agreed on the shoes, they are ideal for dancing.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks she's almost unrecognizable in this MV? Maybe it's the hair... when I first saw a still of her from the MV I thought it was a mistake
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore Fei... That aside, I personally enjoyed both the video and the song. The right amount of sexy, without going overboard, added to the smoothness and calming nature of Fei's vocals. Everything is just right I think, and it's def one of my personal favorites of the year. Kudos to you Fei... Kudos.
